    Dear darmak,
Why the fuck would you buy her the game D:

    Because she enjoys it?

edit: I'm sorry Centipeed, I won't buy anything else until I get your approval first.

Guys, if Darmak seems a little peevish right now, cut him some slack because he obviously has a lot on his mind what with the imminent disintegration of his marriage to a crazy woman. ;-)

Hence my question as to why he bought it for her. Sure, she likes it but if it freaks you out...

I was just kidding about that. She doesn't actually get mad and I think it's cute.

I know I was kidding also. It's cool you found someone with a similar interest. Didn't she tell you off for spending so much during the christmas sale? Our am I thinking of another paer?

Probably me? But those sales were ca-razy, dear wife! I'd be an idiot to pass them up!

I also got in trouble for spending so much during the Thanksgiving sale. Wife saw my bank statement when she was doing the monthly filing and...yeah...

Her: "What is this $90 charge from Valve Software Seatle?"
Me: "That was for The Sims 3."
Her: "You spent $90 on 1 game?"
Me: "... I bought it for you...?"
    Her: "Oh, cool. Thanks, hon."

A quote came to mind after that conversation
Neo: What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge bullets?
Morpheus: No, Neo. I'm trying to tell you that when you're ready, you won't have to.

Quoth Mrs. Hajile in an email titled "wtf electric" after a $502.02 electric bill:
"I went ahead and paid the electric bill. yuck! Please don't buy any more games; you've bought a lot. Check out your MC statement if you don't believe me."

Yeah, and I had a couple game purchases left to clear at that point. Oops. Too bad her laptop or desktop won't play The Sims 3, or I would at least get her the base game.

Ivan Drago administers patch updates for Impulse?

Sigh, I've been in Steam ADD lately, torn between wanting to play around with a bunch of games to see how my new computer can handle/destroy them graphically and wanting something to focus on and play all the way through. Especially with my time constraints the first PA game may be the one I'm currently playing to make the game I power through right now with how quickly I can drop in and out of it. I need more time and simultaneously more and fewer steam games

I mean their versions of patches are fucked up. You hit update, it installs the patch, and the game doesn't run again until they release their next update, which fixes their broken patch. And they only have one guy handling that, so it's usually a week before they release the hotfix. Until then, you can reinstall from scratch if you want to keep playing.

Okay, I've been running Impulse for ... well, since well before it stopped being the pre-cursor to Impulse and became Impulse, and that has, literally, never happened to me.

They only "similar" issues I've run into has been with Mount and Blade / Warband, and that's because official patches oftentimes break the mods I'm playing. At least with Impulse, I don't get automatically updated just by running the launcher program (and, yes, I'm aware that you can turn this off in Steam, but if you haven't turned off auto-patching before Steam starts the download, you're in trouble).

My wife is ok with my Steam purchases as long as I don't get too crazy. She's pretty happy I'm not into something like golf or boating. Gaming is relatively inexpensive and it doesn't take me out of the house.

Yeah I don't get the Impulse hate.

It's worked fine for the games I use it for (Stardock games, mostly). Great customer service. Doesn't have the same blockbuster sales Steam has, but I've gotten Sins of a Solar Empire for $4 and GalCiv2 complete for $9. Good stuff.

I've found that's the key to a good marriage - building up the intent of an extremely expensive hobby that I don't have any interest in following up on so that a later purchase seems like a relief in comparison. It's win/win/win!

I really wish Freedom Force could be registered on Steam. I already own a copy, but it won't work in Windows 7. There's a patch for SP2, which I haven't tried yet, but that's not necessarily going to do it.

Man, Freedom Force was on sale for like $2 or something around last Thanksgiving, less if you bought a pack of 'em. I wouldn't fret, I'm sure it'll be marked down again if five bucks is too much.

It's been answered on page 11 but bears repeating. If you like strategy games King Arthur Complete is a great deal at $12. The Expansions let you play as different kingdoms and add a lot to the game.
