patriarchy, as we all know, tends to go hand in hand with racism to some extent. The specter of the black male rapist obviously is the most well-known example throughout American history. There seems to be a general predisposition to assigning women to groups, and to punishing women who leave the group for men from an out-group.

It's an intersection of racial prejudice and the sexism of society determining women's sexuality for them, and assigning appropriate and inappropriate behavior, with a nice dash of male ownership thrown in.

Then layer in the issues with masculinity/femininity and the desirability of gender-orthodox behavior, and you end up with a pretty complex web of issues that can come up in interracial relationships

I've found the best thing is to just be unfailingly understanding and willing to talk about it without ever judging or invalidating/marginalizing someone's feelings

It can be tough to work through social conditioning

Because the dynamics are rather different. The former tend towards educated with skills they bring over here, and everything that implies. Whilst the latter are the systematically poor that got brought over post War to serve as cheap labour.

well, i got the impression that her mom had immigrated as a teenager or young adult, i guess probably in the 60s. her dad is scottish.

i don't really know her family's social class, though it probably wasn't super-posh.

Then I tell you guys that I saw her on facebook and say that she is now both hot and a furry. There are photos of her looking good on a beach in wolf ears.

Well there is a new development. She is now pregnant. She will be having little wolf babies. Kids growing up in a furry home. Learning about the fursecution from a young age. Traveling with mommy and daddy wolf to the conventions.

does anyone know, if a medicine gives you side effects, do they go away after a bit or is it kind of like, if you experience them you need to try a new one?

well

antidepressants can go both ways. there's generally an adjustment period that abates some symptoms but others are just side-effects and can actually get worse

i'd call your doctor dude.
