Buying Video Camera with Good Sound Recording

Pretty much exactly what the title says. My father is planning on purchasing a video Camera and has offered to allow me to use it to record my band. This is something I've toyed with before so I'm certain that not just any Camera will work. Can someone with more tech knowledge tell me what I should be looking for?

Help me raise a little cash for my transition costs

You want something you can plug a mic into. No video camera has built in "good sound recording" (there may be some but I can't imagine their cost).

    Hi,

I have been using a Kodak HD pocket camera with very good results, the only drawback is that it uses AA batteries. However, it is also possible to connect it to a power supply and mount it to a tripod for long recordings

I am able to record up to one hour of video with good sound using an 8GB SDHC memory card in High Definition video (720p at 60 fps with 16:9 aspect ratio). The file format is Quicktime.

For best results? You use any old video camera and use real microphones and recording equipment to record the sound. It's how the pros do it, after all, and then simply match it up in post.
