360 freezes when playing Rock Band 3

As the title says, my 360 froze three times tonight when I was playing Rock Band 3, twice in character customization and once after a song had ended. There's a loud, sharp noise from the speakers and then everything freezes up.

It's a Halo 3 special edition one, so i've had it for a little over 3 years now. This is the first major problem i've had with it.

Am I on the verge of a RRoD? Any other ideas? The disc itself isn't scratched, and I don't know if it will happen with any other games yet. I played AssBro for about four hours prior to this with no issues, so... i'm stumped.

[Edit]Shit this was meant to be in the stupid technology tavern. Well... I hope it's alright here instead.

This would have probably been better served in the Rock Band thread. Anyway, RB3 has had some freezing problems with people. The first patch they released alleviated some freezing problems but probably not all of them. Does it mean your 360 is dying? Probably not considering your test case. Try playing something else for a bit and see what happens.

So it just happened now when playing AssBro, same thing exactly. Loud noise from speakers then everything freezes. It's not just a Rock Band issue, then. It's not just those games being crappy either, since I have played them each for about 20+ hours prior to this issue.

Yeah. It might be dying a slow death. Is your console still under warranty? Also, are you noticing any artifacting before it freezes? I ask since that's a typical sign of an E74 error.

Nope the screen stays perfectly normal, aside from the fact that it's not moving anymore. I'm fairly certain it's not under warranty anymore, both the normal one since it's been over a year, and the E74 Error one since I think it's a few months past three years. I'll have to check exactly, if I even still have that info.

You can try registering your console at the link below and see if you can request a repair for the RRoD error.

My 360 does the same thing, on certain games, but it doesn't do it if I install them to the hard drive. Have you tried that?

I don't know if it's from drive errors, or heat generated by the drive during use, but either way, I can't play Resident Evil 5 or Grand Theft Auto IV unless I install them.

I just opened a repair ticket and i'll send it in tomorrow. Worst case they can't reproduce the issue and just send it back to me. I don't want to open it myself and fiddle around with stuff I don't know about.

I don't have enough space to install more than one game at a time, and I switch around a lot so that's not really practical.

Thanks for the help guys. This is the first time a console has started to crap out on me.
