I really want to start playing Warmachine but I don't know where to start... What should I buy to begin this journey?

A Battle Box plus the book will get you pretty far in figuring out the major gameplay.

There is also a huge Warmachine thread over in Critical Failures and those guys are pretty nice about helping new people.

I'm more or less in the same boat you're in. Check around your area for any FLGS (friendly local game stores) and see if they have any Warmachine nights.

I will do that. I was thinking I should find some local meet up groups to join anyway.

Privateer Press also has Press Gangers: people who demo their games at local stores. You can see if there's anyone near you here. If you find one, get in touch with the Quartermaster (there's a link on that same page), she can bring you in contact with them.
