Lately I been having a problem with my 4G Evo. It wasn't charging right, even if it was plugged in, sometimes i would have to wiggle the cable to get it to charge, other times I thought it was charged and then it just went and completely died on me.
Took it twice to the Sprint store, first time they told me the battery was dead and replaced it. Second time they told me the same thing, saying they ran the phone through all the test and found no problems. Now tonight my phone is completely dead again. Went to go buy a new charger and it still won't even turn on.
Any ideas? Is there a particular trick to recharging a completely dead battery?
Well, in general the kind of batteries used have particular charging pattern to keep them working well for a long time. When the battery is brand new, you charge it fully without turning the phone on. Then, you only charge the phone when it's really low. Continually charging the battery ends up decreasing the overall battery duration. (I learned about this a few years ago, battery tech might be different now).
Did you have any other kind of case or attachments on the phone? There are some things that will contact the charging port and allow a continuous circuit to run, which just drains the battery of power.
Or could just be a crappy phone. Maybe search around some specific sites/forums dedicated to that phone.
I have an EVO as well, and I've been having a similar problem. After months of use it is very tough to get the charger to connect to the USB port on the phone, both home and car. I basically have to loop the USB cable under the phone to provide downward pressure on the port. I'm just saying this to make sure your phone is actually charging when you plug it in. You should see the amber light on the upper left turn on while charging (even when the battery is completely dead, ive gotten the battery that low numerous times), which will turn green when the battery is full.
The USB cable has enough power to charge the phone.
The USB cable has enough power to charge the phone.
But not all USB ports carry enough juice to recharge things. That's why some of the USB powered hard drives come with those cables that draw power from multiple ports.
Took it to the repair center during my lunch. The tested the charger port and said it was good but that the battery was completely shot. Gave me a new one, tried charging it at my desk and started charging without any hassle (hasn't done that in a couple of weeks).
Bit worried since this is the second new battery they given me but we'll see if the problem persists.
