Wireless disconnects on one laptop?

I've got 3 computers on my wireless LAN. The router is a Netgear WGR614v6. All computers are in the same room as the router and the signal strength is always 100%.

The problem is that my girlfriend's laptop will disconnect for no reason and won't reconnect without restarting the thing. It's a brand-new ASUS Z53M (German model) and has no other problems.

I'm running netstumbler right now. My router is on Channel 4 and it looks like there's only two other readable networks on channels 11 and 6.

Is there anything I should look at? Maybe Windows Zero configuration sucks and I need to have the 3rd party software manage the connection?

Thanks!

I hate to resurrect a dead thread, but I'm still having this problem. I've even changed to a Linksys WRT54G router to no avail. I tried installing a new Wifi card in the laptop, but they've got it somehow hard-coded and the card didn't even recognize at all. (Mini PCI-E card)

    Can anyone help me out?

Can you try putting your router on channel 1. The way it works is that the only channels that are completely separate are 1 6 and 11, so 4 and 6 may overap.

If you disable the card via hardware switch and reactivate, will it reconnect to the network?

most of the time, yes it will. other times I have to completely restart the system. I've tried switching channels, from 6 to 11 to 1, nothing made any difference.

Do you have this problem with any other wireless network? Public library? Starbucks?

Have you tried uninstalling the device and/or downloading new drivers/controller software?

What support/warranty options do you have? If you cannot fix it via software it has the feel of some sort of internal device failure, whether it be power or loose connection.
