Rushing Aegis is always extremely useful to your team if you get it quickly enough, which Nasus definitely can even if he's losing his lane (the wonders of Spirit Fire). Yeah it's even worth getting before Sheen. Don't underestimate that aura in an early teamfight (like over dragon or something), it's pretty huge. When each player has ~2300g in items, you're adding:
80% of a Long Sword = 332g
62.5% of a Null Magic Mantle = 250g
66.6% of a Cloth Armor = 198g
780g of items to each person on your team. You're boosting your team's itemization by approximately one-third. That's really, really strong and you shouldn't underestimate it. (Not to mention it's a really efficient tank item for you personally.)

Maokai is a TON of fun. I love how versatile his skills make him yet still combo together for awesome synergy. His passive allows you to be pretty ballsy in a 2v2 lane as you can heal off a lot of harass.
My favorite thing about him is the saplings of course. Leaving a free sapling ward for your jungler, using them to watch your back when you are ganking, using them to deter people from checking to see if your team is doing dragon, using them to prevent tower hugging... oh man. So good.

played another game as jax last night. didn't go that well, not bad, but for the first 30 minutes, he isn't a "solo the other team" kinda champ.
i've realized that leap strike will often not put you into range for an immediate melee attack. which is lame, he needs a better way to stay on people. oh well, i think i'm going to move to a different champion.

I think it's the same damage and distance as Gragas' barrels, but the seeds give visibility and seek when an enemy gets near - so it's especially great for the laning phase AND when the enemy is hugging a tower with none of their creeps around.
I doubt they'll get nerfed.
E: If anything is going to get nerfed, it's his flash+root ability (W). I think the combination of the teleport to an enemy and a root and damage all together (and a fair amount of damage too) is really strong. Maybe the stun time will be normalized to 1 or 1.5 at all tiers, or brought down a tier starting at .5 or something.

^This. I wanted to save up for her and the rest of the attack speed runes. That'll take weeks now at this point. I think I'm sitting at about 5500 and I think I need about 17k.

You gotta run double mp5/level glyphs and seals for him IMO. If not, at least the seals and then build an early chalice or at least a meki pendant. Once you hit rank 3-4 ( I can't recall ATM) you'll kill the caster minions in one casting.
Also, I'm just getting a black screen for Fizban. Am I the only one?

The flash-root is pretty gross on Maokai. There was a pretty fed akali one game that I just started shutting down. As soon as she jumped onto our carries it was all flashroot, exhaust, ultimate, knockback. Where is your burst now?!?

Or just don't level spirit fire at first, as even if it's ultra awesome it really isn't that important to Nasus having a good early game and mana won't be a problem at the higher levels. I do what Orem said. Aegis into Triforce or GA, depending on my role.

You were way too passive vs Malz who was clearly pushing the wave all the time so no reason not to auto attack a bit instead of just last hit. Your WW didn't come mid once. Your Mundo ult was bad, but hardly game changing. Still, he was dead for sure, Jax had the slow from Rylais. A 5:0 advantage in gold and experience really shouldn't be lost like that, but the tree guy on your team was either trolling or just really, really bad. Also, WW kept ulting the tanks and I'm not sure, but I think you guys had a single exhaust on the whole team vs Tryndamere/Jungle Yi.
Still, all those things way easier to notice on the outside. My Trist is worse than yours. I can't play her for shit.
Edit: You were of course right to back when your teammates asked you why you backed. Mundo/Shen/Yi under the tower = taunt and you die.

Yeah, that can happen. You have to be careful about spamming it. What's you're starting build?
My bog standard start is Regrowth Pendant and mana pot. Masteries vary, but usually 21 in defense min. I run MPen reds, flat armor yellows, and flat mana blues, since it's the early lane where Nasus struggles most.
The goal is to kick around the lane and farm until you have enough to buy a philo stone, then port back to buy it. This also refills your health and mana, girds against the the level 4 jungle gank by either not being there, or having high enough health and mana to fend it off, and means you should have enough mana at lvl 6 to use your ult and attempt a kill. After that, item buys are all situational, the only core items on my Nasus builds are early philo stone, and a Tri Force.
I usually take Teleport and Cleanse. But don't waste teleport to just port back to you lane quick unless you have to. Treat it like Shen's global, port into team fights, or use it to stop tower pushes. Cleanse is kind of debatable, but a good counter to Nasus is CC, so I think it's worth it.
I am enjoying the lol forums at the moment, with all the crybabies getting trolled by Tryndamere with soon (tm).
The interesting tidbit i found is one of the primary reasons for introducing the new IP system was to allow the inclusion of additional maps, specifically maps that will have on average longer gametimes than 35 minutes.
I really wish they would keep the new champ skin bundle up until the champ is free, that would definitely get them some extra business IMO. As it is, it's all total shots in the dark, which I don't really like, but I'm actually considering for tree guy. hrmmmm

I started buying t3 runes at 20. They do make a difference as long as you know what you are buying.
I liked getting an apen/mregen/cdr set and a magic pen/mregen/cdr set, simply because they are useful as a baseline on a lot of champions.
