League of Legends. Where we play this online game when the servers work
I don't even think Ryze is the best at that niche for that matter. Vlad and Swain are stronger "tanky sustained damage casters" IMO. And I wouldn't call either of those the "best casters in the game".
I would say new ryze is stronger than swain. I think Vlad still edges out ryze thanks to the ult and a generally better escape move. Ryze wins in fun though, since blowing up jerks is awesome.
So I was talking to a friend last night about new Ryze. He thinks that upgrading glacial shroud into frozen heart is something that should happen before you upgrade tear into AA. Is he crazy? I think he's crazy.
God I played poorly too, despite the score. Three of those deaths were stupid mistakes which didn't need to happen in the early game.
Also reaffirmed in this game that Tristana is really good against Tryndamere in teamfights.
Tristana is just so good in general.

If they have melee deeps on your case and you don't have CDR runes he's absolutely right

Also, it's a little easier to level up the mana on tear than it is on AA, for some reason tear is twice every six seconds and AA is once every 3 seconds, so if you toss out QWQE really quick on AA it'll actually only give you one stack on AA but it'll give you two on tear.
Not really a significant difference, but I unless I really need to focus on being able to burn down fools quick I get my RoA before AA also.
It seems so much easier to do well on Tristana with bad players on the enemy team, like not just a little easier, like I can do some really stupid shit and get a triple kill for it when I should have just been killed. There are some really bad people at this game. Luckily those people are my enemies.

Well, we were discussing either one as a late upgrade so the tear should be stacked or almost stacked already.
And you really think that the frozen heart upgrade is worth it more than the AA? Considering the amount of mana you should have on Ryze by then? I really just don't see it. If the other team's phys DPS is running rampant sure but in a typical situation I just don't see why you'd do it, finishing that AA is going to give you so much AP. He was talking about finishing the AA as though it was something you should only do if you've built everything else (maybe even behind pots).
Of course, he also said something about needing 3233 mana for the AA's upgrade to be cost-efficient...? Don't know where the hell he got that idea. Once I got the chance to go calculate it out I found the breakeven point is something like half that much.
Everytime i have to dual lane with tree we both go like 0/3 because hes such a bad character. Fuck him so hard. Either that or only the worst people play him. Soon as I leave that lane I get fed and we win sometimes. FUCK TREE!

Truth! If you can get the enemy team to fight your team in the circle it's total win.

I think I hate Ryzes that build a Manamune (at all, let alone a first item) as much as AP Ezreal (especially ones that never even build a Lichbane). I have lost every single game that I've had one of them on my team.
Funny thing was I went in to a match after the Ryze that only ever build Manamune and Sorcerer's Shoes (He was just really bad) and got another Ryze at champion select. I then and there said, "For the love of god, please tell me you're not building Manamune on Ryze." Thankfully he was decently competent and I carried my team to victory as Warwick.
Manamune is great if you went BV instead of RoA and don't really have any other AP items, because it means you can make a Triforce as your luxury and any build that lets you put a Triforce or an IE on a caster like I used to do with Sona is amazing.
If you have other AP items (RoA over BV for example), it's far preferable to go AA and grab the Lich Bane.

It depends on your runes and masteries with Ryze. If you're 9/0/21 and running cdr blues, you have more than enough CDR that the last 5% won't kill you, so it's down to whether you need the extra armor. If you're running mana/level blues and doing something weird like me with 10/9/11, the extra 5% can help shorten your combo times by just enough and, once again, armor is great.
At the stage of the game that you should be at to make this decision, you should have 3.5-4k mana. AA gets you 120AP from scaling +45 flat. If this is enough to be worth it for you, go for it.
And for the record, if I didn't really really need the extra armor by that point, I'd probably do AA first, but I already have Tear, RoA, Merc's, Glacial, Negatron by then.

And I don't see how a Tree loses a lane unless they are Super Derp, come to save the enemy's team from a loss!
Oh, and all aboard the LuxBus!
I played somewhat shoddily because I kept clicking on UI elements to fire off my skillshots early game... thankfully my hands warmed up and I went on to snipe and share everyone.

PVP.net is being horribly retarded - in that Lux game I got DC'd...but yet I watched Kassadin come up to me, kill me, was watching chat scroll along...until finally it booted me and immediately re-connected me....perma dead. No timer, didn't re-rez, nothing happened. Had to shut down the client and re-connect for it to get fixed.
Came back 2 levels lower 50 CS behind, and still did well enough.

BANSHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES....If I'm doing damage, I'm getting a banshees.
I don't know, I may rather have banshee's passive on a 2000hp build. If you had went an ap/warmogs vlad, then the FoN would be just fine.
I had 3.8k HP I think. I also had 700 ap.
I'm an idiot, I forgot about the passive.

the benefit you get from roa is so much bigger
And by the time you're getting to later on void staff is 99% more of a priority
so it's normally 6th
