e: Also I think this kind of works the opposite of how you are seeing it, but I can understand why you would have that opinion. From my perspective, when you try to translate an artists work into another medium, whether it's from one actual language to another, just removing slang, or whatever, it becomes clear that the artist actually did choose his words carefully and that his work is far superior to your translation in just about every way. That's not to say that whatever you make is devoid of value, but frequently, as is the case with the one I quoted, it makes you appreciate the song in a different way than you had previously because it highlights some of its aspects that may not have been readily apparent at first blush.
A good example of this is the chatlogs in MSPA. For a while some people were annoyed with characters B3C4US3 TH3Y T4LK3D L1K3 TH15 or liike thiis or whatever, but gradually it became clear why those typing conventions were employed, and people stopped asking for ways to 'translate' it out, because it was just an inseparable part of their character.
