Interesting. I think I have a pentium D 3.2ghz (along with 4g of ram & a 9800gtx(+?)), which according to whatever benchmarking website I looked at (canIrunit or whatever) was too fail for this game based on the minimum requirements. Be curious to see if I could actually run the game even on low.
I of course have no idea how my processor compares to yours.
Thanks to this Thread, and GB's Quicklook, I am now installing and attempting to beat Witcher 1 before I rush out to purchase witcher 2. I imagine i'll get about 3/4 of the way through installing it from disc, say fuck it, buy it on steam, start installing that, then immediately purchase witcher 2 and proceed to play through quite a bit of that before something else shiny catches my eye on a steam sale and then not finish that as well.
I am terrible at video games.

I really do want to beat The Witcher before I play The Witcher 2
But holy god it's such a weird, esoteric game that just isn't fun to play
Man I just read The journal notes on potions. Rook increases muscle strength, and it actually translate to easier arm wrestling. The attention to details is awesome.
ooh about a little bit into chapter 2 and i finally get armour thats better then ravens armour, hunters armour!
and it looks exactly like ravens except coloured slightly differently, but with a like a big blue patch on the shoulder, im wondering when we get the armour we see in the trailers and artwork.. that looks badass, this hunters armour is better then the base ravens armour, and after adding 3 upgrades the armour is at +15 with 35 health and other shit, awesome!
just wish it looked vastly different, feels like the craft guy just threw a throw over one shoulder and got a painjob., cost me alot of orens getting the design and then getting it made.
how do I get the troll DLC? I have the UK limited edition and when I click on DLC it only gives me the options for Polish and Englsh voice overs and text.
I click on registered users and it just takes me to the Witcher 2 site with the login and register options greyed out. If I enter the Roche Commando code it says it is not valid

I liked Witcher 1's combat. Witcher 2's just feels more like a beat'em'up so far.
Also, combat is ultra choppy for me. I'll try turning more settings down and see if it helps.
I don't enjoy having things letterboxed. A new upgrade might be in order.
you have to register first, even if you have an old witcher 1 account, for some reason they took it all offline but they said once its back on with the new forums they will merge accounts.
should still be able to register unless its one of those times its offline for whatever reason, seems to have happened alot in the past few days.
I tell ya, even on Easy this is a very grindey combat system. A lot of chop chop chop chop chop chop, and that is with me absolutely buffing the hell out of Geralt and using copious sign and trap usage. Lots of enemies are just damage sponges, and spawn so many of them.
The forest in chapter one is the first forest environments in a game in which I have legitimately been lost. It's great, but I keep wandering about in circles and can't find the 4th nekker nest. This game is so stunning on so many levels, and I love how bombs, traps, and the non-igni spells are now useful.
Wow, I'm surprised you can even run Witcher 1 much less Witcher 2. I keep hearing about people having trouble running Witcher 2, even on low, but if your system can then handle it accecptably then I have high hopes for my own computer.

I've run most of the prologue at 30-40 FPS on lowest settings on:
It runs more smoothly than Witcher 1. Good optimisation, for sure.
yeah you might want to hold those horses.
Many of us get between the teens-40s FPS on very new cards no matter what graphic setting we use. even on low.
Fingers crossed for patches.
i was getting that in the prologue, but in chapter 1 everywhere i was getting 50-60 (in the forest) apart from in the town where iwas getting 30-40, chapter 2 is giving me 50ish at the moment but i havent gotten too far yet.
seriously, whos going to do the new thread before this one is closed?
Whatever happened to the seamless, no loading between chapters thing? or am I the only unlucky one? in th space of 90 minutes, I've seen 5 black losing screens complete with circ, spinny thing.
Also, my bombs do squat against the necker nests. And my goddamn internetf still not back on and I think the poker playing monk bonus fucked up because of it. Theres nothing in the extras menu.

As far as I can tell, it loads content as you move through the world. If you move too fast for it, it'll display a loading screen....I think.
So ideally, in a few years when we all have much faster computers, we wont see any loading screens....hopefully.

Fuck you, harmless wildlife. Geralt has all your shit handled.
It wouldn't feel sporting if not for the fact that he drops dead in three hits without Quen active.

I can't believe there's no group fighting style. I'd get through the prologue unscathed with that.
