This textbook is bollocks. It's trying to argue that the word "sensor" doesn't just mean something that responds to a stimulus in a way that conveys information. He's spent pages hung up on the fact that only a thermometer with a digital output should be considered a sensor while the other is a measuring device. All this in broken English that makes me wonder how this got published.
