Yup, they're making a new Thundercats show. I am looking forward to how it turns out. And for those of you bitching and moaning about "hurrr, raping my childhood" or "durrfff, animu" SHUT THE HELL UP.

First, there have been some excellent re-imaginings of popular cartoons from our childhood. In fact, they can even be exceptionally better than the original. TMNT, He-Man, [tiny]My Little Pony[/tiny].
Second, have you even tried watching the old Thundercats toon? It's awful. Terrible. To use once again my most favorite stolen line from CT, take of your damn rose-colored nostalgia glasses.
Third, so what if it's got an anime kind of style? Cram it, nerds.

Oh, and it's being produced by people who have worked on Teen Titans, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. So cram it again.

Anyway, it appears that they've given more distinction between the characters, and Lion-O certainly looks younger, which really fits more with his role as someone suddenly thrust into a position of leadership before he's ready. And with Panthro being all big and bulky now, and he was previously the "black" one, I would wager a guess that he is going to be voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.

Oh, and check out this new Thundertank. Looks pretty sweet.

    I had a tape of the first few episodes of thundercats and I must have watched it literally a hundred times
    I can recognize now that it is a terrible show.

    One ep I remember was that two aliens crash on 3rd earth, one pretty and one ugly. Lion-o tries to help the pretty one escape from the ugly one, But Shock! pretty one was an Evil Criminal on the run from the Law. And that's when Lion-o learns his educational lesson.

    Cheetara is nowhere near skanky enough

    And Panthro looks like Jet, or every other generic 'grizzled veteran' in the animes of the past decade. I was willing to budge on Cheetara, but Panthro's redesign is a total buzzkill.

    I had the Sword of Omens toy as a kid. I was a big fan of plastic swords, and was always dissapointed with the weak floppy shit swords, but SoO was different. And it lit up. The best sword.

    Anyway, this new cartoon will inspire a new generation of furry lovers.

    And Cheetara is severly over dressed WTF.

    And the new series will be much better.
    I still enjoy the old one because it is the good kind of terrible.

    When I went back and watched an episode of Thundercats, yes, the plots and dialog are awful, but the animation is still really detailed, colorful and fluid.

    This style doesn't look half bad, either, but for some reason I'm kinda pissed that Panthra isn't still "black."

    I could never fucking understand what the robot bear things were saying in the old thundercats

    also I like that the production company also made cartoons called SilverHawks and TigerSharks. They really liked that scheme of naming apparently.

    Yes, they did. And they managed to just barely skirt the furry-ish trend that TMNT fully embraced.

    I'm certainly interested. It looks like the focus wont be exclusively on the Mumm-Ra conflict, which I like. I just hope that they have the original theme in this show in some capacity.
