Surge Protector Question/Issue

So, I have..had a Panamax M4300-PM A/V surge protector.

Tonight, while streaming some Netflix, my whole entertainment center just randomly shut down, along with the Panamax. Usually that would be a sign that a fuse got tripped, so I went out and checked, but nothing. The outlet the surge protector is on even has its own secondary fuse in the kitchen, which also wasn't tripped.

It should also be stated that the fuse box in my place loves to trip if I even just plug a vacuum cleaner into the wrong block of outlets, so the fact that this surge protector would blow when nothing else tripped seems really bizarre.

Now, the reset button in the back seems to be tripped, but it won't reset. It's totally loose, which is usually a sign that it is permanently blown.

But how in the hell did that happen?

I'm just asking because, having only had said surge protector for about 2 months, I can't help but feel like this is an issue with the device and not a legitimate sacrifice on the unit's part to protect my stuff.

However, Panamax's claim process supposedly takes like 4-6 weeks to return a working unit, which I'm not eager to dive into if I don't know for a fact it was a malfunction and that I will be getting a free replacement.

If you bought it from a local store and have a receipt, it may be easier to a return through them.

Problem is it was the store I work at, and it's been over the usual return period.

Going to poke around and see if I can though.

I was just curious if anyone had any idea what might have caused a surge protector to completely blow without tripping any other circuit breaker in the house, or even causing a light to flicker.
