There is also Live Mesh and drop box for syncing. I've never used a DL323 NAS system so I can't help you there.

I've got the same NAS but unfortunately I've done nothing other than installing the extra bit torrent program that came in the box and upgrading the firmware to get better FTP tools. The better-half uses it to backup her music/pictures/etc manually and I should eventually switch to a raid setup since I'm no where near filling the 1.5TB on the first drive.

The official forum seems to be a good source of info. The one question I did post there was answered within hours I think.

Edit: Adding forum link to be a bit more useful.

I've got a couple of WD 1TB Black drives on the way, as well as a DL323 NAS system.

I'd like to set up a home backup system for my girlfriend and I. Though, I would like the drive itself to be inaccessable. For example: My backup goes to the NAS, and only I can access it if I navigate to it. Is this possible?

Also, I hear a lot about these DL323 NAS systems, and how modifyable they are. Has anyone ever loaded Linux onto them and done anything interesting?

I'll be using SyncBack Pro for our scheduled backups, but if there's anything better, I'm certainly open to suggestions.

I use Handy Backup for backup to NAS, try it.
