X-Factor is an American comic book series published by Marvel Comics. It is a spin-off of the popular X-Men franchise, featuring characters from X-Men stories. The series has been relaunched several times with different team rosters, most recently as X-Factor Investigations.
X-Factor launched in 1986, featuring an eponymous team composed of the five original X-Men. In 1991, the founding members were incorporated back into the regular X-Men series, and X-Factor relaunched as a U.S. government-sponsored team incorporating many secondary characters from the X-Men mythos. The series was canceled in 1998.
And then you keep canceling it and canceling it until good things happen in-game.
But basically it's a one-time-per-match move. You hit A+B+C+S at the same time to go into X-Factor mode, with increased strength and speed for a set amount of time, plus constant red health regeneration. It can cancel almost any move you're doing (many supers included) as long as you're on the ground and not in a cinematic state or level 3, and you can activate it during blockstun. Its effects are stronger and last longer if you have fewer teammates remaining, and once it's over it's unavailable for the rest of the match.
I've lurked a bit and seen that this question annoys people, and they just want to say "get the tournament edition," but what are the opinions on the Hori EX2? The cost of the TE is prohibitively expensive for me, and the EX2 seems more in my comfortable price range. I do play a lot of fighting games (SFIV, SCIV, T6, and now this) but only play with one of my friends because no one else likes them. He just decided to get the TE out of the blue, and I have been wanting an arcade stick for awhile and would feel less stupid getting one now.
I guess what I'm asking is if anyone has any experience with it first hand and can compare it to the SE? I realize it's probably nowhere near as nice as the TE, but does anyone regret not getting the TE after buying the EX2? Are there any glaring problems?
As for things actually related to the thread, I just went online for the first time with Morrigan/Haggar/X-23 won pretty decisively, they changed chars so I switched too. 1 Trish/Zero/Tron match later and they rage quit. This scenario played itself out again later. I know I'm not actually good enough to be competitive at this game, but it made me feel good. Maybe I should quit while I'm ahead and keep the good memories.

Antihippy is right. With a cheaper stick like the Hori EX2 or the Mat Catz SE, the buttons are going to fail sooner or later. The main difference is that in the Mat Catz stick, you can simply order replacement buttons and switch them, whereas in the Hori, you will need to desolder things.
So if you must get a budget stick, I recommend the SE.
Neat. You see I don't know this information as i do not own the game as of yet.
Figured, didn't mean to come off as dickish if it came out that way. If you want to devote a lot of time to learn the ins-and-outs, this video seemed fairly informative.

I went ahead and bought an EX2 for $100 before the $85 sale was on for the same reason (couldn't bring myself to pay $150 plus shipping and waiting for the new TEs). I really like it. The stick is awesome, but the buttons are definitely sub-par. However, they aren't terrible. I'm going to rock the original buttons for a bit then buy some sanwa buttons and replace them later (for like $30). In retrospect, I probably should have just bought a TE, but I wasn't sure if I was going to like using a stick at all.
Also, the HRAP has this strange film that you can't take off unless you remove the buttons. Kind of a minor annoyance.
EDIT: I'll probably go ahead and add a plexi and some artwork. Thereby making the purchase not as good a value as the TE.

This community's definition of "budget" seems a bit removed from mine. But I understand, you get what you pay for. I do want an arcade stick, but...$160?
I do appreciate the responses, though. I won't spend on the EX2. 360 controller for me.
i still havent been able to pull the trigger on a fightstick yet because of how frusterated this game makes me.
On one hand, with some more practice and a fightstick I could see my game vastly improving (already I'm trying more and more to position my button pressing hand over the buttons on my fightpad - since they're laid out like a fightstick, only smaller) and can see my quick combos hitting SO much faster and more consistantly than when I use my thumb.
On the other hand, a $80 stick will not help me memorize combos, block better and stop Dante bullshit. So, it would just be a constant reminder of being out $80 on top of hating everything.

Well, those fights weren't impressive at all. Yay for dumbass letting his assist get caught the same way twice and yay for other guy allowing level 3 DP 2x.

I just lost ten matches in a row to someone. Using Sentinel. It is impossible to get anywhere near either Sentinel or any projectile character using his assist. Superjumps, air dashes, Spencer's ziplines. Tron covering She-Hulk as she slides in or slide-throw cancels in. Nothing.
The last two or three rounds I even started to get close and do a bit better, and they'd just fly into the corner shooting fireballs down at him while still being able to summon Sentinel on the ground. I can't move foward and I can't go into the air.
When they had Arther it was even more ridiculous, because even if I got in all my moves whiff. He spent one round literally just back jumping with him and shooting lances, and there's nothing I can do to stop that.
I'm not sure how to fix this problem or get any better. I can do all these combos perfectly, but it doesn't help me when I'm stuck on the other side of the screen.

Ammie's projectile counter move tends to be a good way to get Sentinel players moving since it reflects most of them back, they have to stop spamming. I know it's a single character but it works.

You know if you want to put ammy in for that assist you might as well just use ammy on point to counter him.
Ammy in rosary beads stance paired with tron's assist fucks him up bad. Played well he has nearly no chance to get in at all or zone at all.
That's actually what I do. Use Ammy as point and and just keep the counter projectile move up until I can get Sentinel out of the corner. Of course, I then get creamed in the fight, but I'd rather lose because I got beat on than by projectile spam.

I don't use her. I'm really not interested in using her either, not my type of character at all. I listed who I was using and how they failed to get in and do anything.
It sounds to me like you need a good assist for getting in or a lock down assist. I know adding in Akuma to my team has helped out my Hsien Ko considerably because his assist keeps the opponent from running away constantly which Hsien Ko has some problems with on her own. Akuma wasn't a character that I was particularly interested in learning but he has helped me out considerably.
Well it's going to be slightly harder if you don't have an anti projectile assist. Spencer's bionic grab assist isn't Anti projectile right?
Still, general advice I can give is that you should use super jumps, wave dashes or whatever needed to get in between the gaps of zoning. There will always be an opportunity to get in, you just need to learn the gaps. Like for example, arthur's basic daggar zoning, if he's jumping and tossing out daggars, there will be a small opportunity to wavedash and get closer. If he's throwing on the ground, super jump. That's just one really basic example though, you'd have to get matchup experience and learn about them.
Sentinel assist has its cool down and is also actually fairly slow to come out. It doesn't cover everything. It's just that it's really stupid when it comes out.
Or try to change your team to counter it. Characters with beam assists could be pretty useful to cover rushdown from projectiles. Or stuff like akuma's tatsu. Or just use sentinel's assist. :P
Thing about this game is that you can mostly play the characters you want but you also have to make a team that works well together too.
Neither She-Hulk nor Tron can really cover Spencer with assists. Tron's only good if you're close to them already. All of Spencer's assist suck and don't seem to do much at all. Tron has an air dash, and you can follow with the drill. So then she's over there but falling and can't do anything. She-Hulk has no air dash, no double jump, no air moves at all. Her slide doesn't go under most beams or low mouth beam. And of course, drones.
Basically they spam until I finally get an opening to move a bit, and then they have plenty of time to wait and hit me with something, or push me back and start spamming again. Spencer can get over there really quick, but they would usually simply dash to the other side of the screen and resume spam. And then repeat. I tried using Taskmaster for his projectiles and assist, but they are beat by mouth lasers, drones, and any beams I ran into.
Fun fights last night, Shady. If how I felt when your Zero was crawling all over me is how people feel when my Zero crawls all over them, I am glad I use him. He's demoralizing as hell lol.

I put some time into the training room with Wesker last night, finally. Pulled off a ground combo that ends in an air combo that goes for 20-26 hits or so depending on Max Wesker's mood.
I HATE the timing on his moves, though. It feels so much more subjective to lag then my other dudes. It might be because of how he moves (very fast / jerky, like he's missing frames of animation) that throws off my timing. Like, even his hyper combo, it feels weird following up on it.
I can get the combo down in the training room, but in an actual match it feels like I am going too slow. I do use training room at 3 bar lag, though.
Maybe try it at 4-5 bar tonight.

Woo, I bought the cosumes and downloaded the shadow mode last night.
Can't wait to try them, as I didn't have any time to actually play anything last night.
I wonder when we'll get an announcement about future dlc characters.
Right, but I can't think of a character I want to play that has a projectile like that.
well what characters are you willing to play
team synergy is a pretty important aspect to a fighting game like this, and stubbornly sticking to a particular setup is going to leave you vulnerable to certain things if your team is not equipped to handle them.
Someone in the earlier thread was complaining that thier Hulk/Haggar team was getting zoned out... well yeah, of course it is.. those are the two least mobile characters in the game. A Hulk/Hagger combo will totally fuck up someone trying to rush you down but they are hopeless against a keepaway tactic without proper support or alternate options.
You should try to be open to at least sampling other characters. The cast is diverse enough that there's really no "every team has to have THIS CHARACTER" but you may have to shake things up a little from whatever your current setup is.

There is a Red X next to your character's picture by the life meter. Also, when you use it, you glow red like you are on fire.
