LCD backlight goes off... only if plugged through DVI

So my LCD monitor is acting up. Ever since 5 days ago it would apparently shut off, but it didn't, then I noticed it was just the backlight.

At first I'd just turn it off and back on, and wouldn't have any trouble at all. Today it won't stay on for more than 2 minutes.

Monitor's plugged in with the DVI cable. DVI-DVI.

Well then I plugged it in with the VGA cable, and it's been working for quite a while now, no apparent problems, except that I can hear a low volume high pitched hum coming from the back of it (Don't know how long it's been there, since the hum of my PC drowns it out) I only heard it because while I switched cables, you know how the screen will go "No input detected" so it was on during that period and I could hear it.

Until now I thought it was related to the power inverter but, why only with the DVI connection? Light shuts down even when I'm in the BIOS screen, so it's not Win7 related.

I definitely want to see if I can get the warranty used (Still got a year left) but I bought it on Newegg, and well I'm located in Mexico, so I won't know until tomorrow if they'll cover it :( In the meantime, any explanation?

Monitor is 22" Acer X223w

Edit: Haha nevermind, it's shutting off as well now :(
