Okay so, I was already trying to fix a problem concerning hotmail (I couldnt connect on my official email anymore, waiting for some news about a job application I did...) when my java just gave up on me apparently. When I'm on hotmail, i cant click on emails, i cant delete them, i cant change pages, etc. Theres a little ''javascript:;'' at the bottom of the screen but thats it. Nothing loads when I click on it.

So I went on this page : http://www.bodo.com/javame.htm ; and apparently i'm javascript enabled, but my java applet just shows a black rectangle, or a white box with the infamous ''x'' at the top left corner.

Can anyone help? Or would I get more replies at Moe's Stupid Technology Tavern?

Edit: I am currently scanning for spywares to see if that could be the cause of it, no results so far, everything is clean

Does Hotmail actually require Java, or JavaScript? They are two entirely different technologies and I'm guessing Java itself doesn't have anything to do with your problem.

    What browser are you using?

Firefox, I tried with IE and it doesnt work either. Tried downloading Chrome but it doesnt work either.

Windows Live Hotmail requires java for some parts of it apparently.

Also, sorry about this but I have to go to college, i'll check out this thread when I come back :/

Have you tried re-installing the Java plug-in for Firefox? I recall hearing recently Firefox has disabled the Java plug-in unless you update it because of security concerns.

The other option is to try running IE in Safe Mode which disables all plug-ins, and see if it works (of course, if Java really is required, then it won't). Does Hotmail offer a noscript or low-bandwidth version that might not use Java?

Okay, now I cant see anything from Facebook.

I reinstalled Firefox, I reinstalled Java, i dont understand whats going on..

Also I cant watch videos on gametrailers, but i can watch youtube videos. Usually when my plugin crashes i cant watch either

Also, I cant access the Java console when I click on tools, and when I reinstalled firefox it loaded the ''compatibility with java console'' for a couple of minutes where nothing happened before I decided to click cancel. After that i was able to access firefox but i still had my problems.

I think it's not Java or javascript but flash being the bugger here. Java is an extension separate from the browser, similar to flash. It's not used to interpret javascript, that's always handled by the browsers themselves. The videos are definitely using flash, and I think hotmail might use flash to do certain things like showing file upload progress bars.
