I can not decide on whether to get the Wine Red or the Dark Brown one. Alternatively, make a case for a different colour!

    I have the brown one, and it is classy as hell. I like the contrast with the darker brown of the surface and the lighter brown of the lip, but honestly, they're both really, really nice.

    But are you sure you don't want a 3DS? Headaches or no, at some point the games you want are going to be 3DS exclusive. Plus you can turn off the 3d effect.

    But the 3DS is so tiny in comparison. And more expensive! Why have a 24'' 3D HDTV when you can have a 42'' HDTV? :wink:

    Its more like a 24'' 3D HDTV or a 42" SDTV. Personally I'd rather have the smaller higher resolution one.

    Maybe an SDTV -- but the OP said he didn't want headaches, which is why he's going for a DSi XL, and not a 3DS. Because of that, we can rule out him playing 3DS games (even though you can play them in 2d).

    Here's the 3DS running a DS game at its native resolution:

    Apologies if I came off as trolling, but the 3DS doesn't improve the DS games' resolutions, so if that's all the OP wants to play, then he'd be better off with the XL.

    I think the point was that in the future eventually the best games are going to be 3DS only. It's kind of (sort of) like buying an Xbox a few weeks before the 360 came out.

    The OP is about to spend $170 on a system whose replacement comes out in 3 weeks. If he's going to end up upgrading to the 3DS in the next year anyway, it's at least worth considering putting that $170 toward the 3DS instead.

    ^There was a price cut out of nowhere a couple months ago.

    In any case, there was an offer at Gamestation; DSi XL + any game for the price of a DSi XL. Grabbed Golden Sun Dark Dawn with it. Good deal, IMO. :D

    I'm sorry, but blurry scaling gives me a headache too.

    Personally, I got an XL about a year ago. I was able to wait almost as long as the OP, and I'm probably going to wait for a similar long time with the 3DS... 3DS XL maybe? Or 3DS Slim at least.
