Direct2drive had it marked down 20% last weekend too, which is what finally convinced me to buy it despite not being down DA1..and now i'll probably never finish 1 I'm really starting to like D2D, they always seem to have new releases on 20% off within a week or two before their release
Stop worrying so much. If you chose release-date delivery it'll definitely have shipped today. My order status only just now updated but it was shipped out hours ago.
Don't you tell me not to worry! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
...I'm not actually worried. I'll get the game when it gets here. I have a Student Prime membership, so shipping is free, and I ordered it before the price increase, so I'm sitting pretty good here.
Shipping is free? You got some real savings there. I can't believe Amazon jacked up the price of release date delivery to 99 cents.
Well, that decides what platform to pick it up on, looks like I'll be getting those pre-order bonuses after all!
Edit:
The amazon digital download thing is giving me "it's taking an usually long time to process, but it should be good to go in an hour or so" message. That's what I get for going with not-Steam, but hey as long as i get the game I guess. At least I'm not too worried about amazon going out of business and denying me access to it any time soon.
Just visited the thread on Neogaf, where it seems everyone is hating on this game big time and accusing every positive review of "moneyhat".
It's almost as if everyone there wants this game to be awful, just so Bioware can be chastised into repenting for the sin of not making this game with the infinity engine.
It's not really surprising that many people are calling bullshit on such positive reviews. One of the first reviews was from a German gaming mag which gave the game 88%, despite having these kinds of things to say about it:
-EA did not let them use their own screenshots for the article without
explicit approval, even though they were given the final version. The
reviewer calls this "inexplicable".
- Hawke has up to 9 companions, who
generally feel alive and responsive. However, they have consistently
less depth and weaker characterization than the cast in Origins. The
only exception is Varric, whose frequent banter with Cassandra provides
much of the game's tension and humour
-The game does not feel long or epic, and the central conflict (mages
vs. chantry) is not as dramatic as the reviewer would have liked. But
although it doesn't have anything comparable to the Battle of Ostagar or
the final attack on Denerim, it still has some very tactical boss
fights.
- ugly ("texture mud") and low-polygon graphics, especially in the areas outside of Kirkwall.
Generally feeling of emptiness/lack of NPCs. Constant encounters with
"clonecellars" and "clonecaves", which can be a huge source of
frustration. However, beautiful spell effects and good character models
that can graphically compete with ME2
- combat is generally tactical, though frequently unbalanced. The lack of an iso-style camera
was a huge problem for the reviewer.
Does a game with these kinds of glaring flaws still deserve 88%?

Who knows...that's why you actually read what is being said instead of focusing on a number score. And as always, one most take into account what is and isn't subjective, positive or negative. I mean of the 4 things that matter, two of those are comparisons to Origins that I may or may not agree with. The other two were problems Origins also had and it had pretty high scores.
I'm also not sure "had to use specific screenshots" and "the companions are awesome but not quite as awesome as the companions in this other game," are "glaring flaws"

You can get your CD key off steam now, so if you're in Asia you can simply get your CD key from steam then use the EA download manager to get your game at the right time.
Which is uhhh
a special reflection of how things stand

Why the hell would you be worried about Steam going out of business anytime before Amazon does or in your lifetime? Steam is ridiculously profitable.
The thing the review mentions about the personality system I noticed a bit in the demo. It's nice to know my Hawke will start to default toward the kind of responses I normally give.
Be a smartass, I can go with it.

Sweet. Bestbuy.ca shipped out my signature edition today, and since games always ship from within the city here, it should be in my grubby little paws by tomorrow. I just hope it shows up before I have to go to work, so I can pour over the manual there instead of... you know, actually working. That'd be fantastic.

I was wary to click this, because I hate anything that done by Mr. "ZOMG! I'm British and talk fast and make up curse words and everything fucking sucks because it's Mainstream. My opinion is the only thing that matters in game reviews."
But since it's not him, I'll read it.
Edit: I don't mind the British, talking fast, and I certainly don't mind made up curse words. I DO mind cocky assholes who half-play games, don't read manuals and then complain when shit doesn't make sense to them.

Meh...that Yahtzee guy wasn't all that bad.
I didn't agree with him a lot of the time, but he was funny enough.
It was just his fans that went around when he was big using his videos as proof that games they didn't like sucked what made it annoying.

Oh, yeah that was unclear. I was talking about "not-Steam" options in that sentence, and how amazon might actually be a somewhat valid one.
"I didn't like this, this was dumb, etc." He's a comedic critic. And he'll probably tear this game a new one, too. But then, his "review" on DAO wasn't bad at all to say the least.

That's all nice and good, but it didn't stop people from coming into threads and being all "Hur Dur, Yahtzee said this game sucks and it does."
Have they clarified what the dlc landscape for this is going to be like? Are we going to have an ME2 situation where we can play any of them at any time, even after beating the game, or are they going to stick with the DAO model where a few can be played during the main game and the rest are completely isolated?

In other news, I will probably never bother with Legends because the game is out so legends is doing nothing to get me excited to play DA2 and I hate all the facebook app stuff (buying points, hour long timers, etc.)

Thanks. Although, I can't say I see myself playing it too much once DA2 comes out. In other words, ever. If they released it late February as part of the hype machine I could see that as something I'd waste time on. But when, you know, the actual game it's based on is being released tomorrow, there's really no point in playing it.
You know, unless you like that kinda thing....

And more. Bioware posted a page of their own showing promotional items. Seems even registering your game gives you stuff.
