Gunbound crashes at startup

I'm trying to play Gunbound with a friend of mine but i haven't been able to play it properly. It's different than i remember the old Gunbound, but you have to log-on via ijji.com (IE only :? ) to start the game.
Now, when i log in and click "start", my computer, what a reason i don't know, goes batshit insane. The game tries to go to fullscreen but then every goddamn program starts crashing. You know "explorer has a problem and needs to close" etc. etc. And i have to resort to restarting the computer.
I've re-downloaded and re-installed it about 4 times now and it's always the same. My computer is perfectly capable of playing a 2-D online game, but this just bewilders me.
Any help, please?
