What should I do?

I have a replacement laptop arriving from Asus tomorrow, I sent in my w90vp-x2 for repairs and due to lack of parts they offered me a replacement that I accepted immediately (a G73JW-XT1). The specs on the new systems are:

17.3" FHD (1920*1080)/ NV GTX 460M 1.5G GDDR5/ USB 3.0
802.11B/G/N(AS)+ BT
4x BD Combo + No FP+ CAM 2.0
8-Cell 5200
i7-740QM
500G 7200
8G DDR3 (2*4 / 1333)
WIN 7

This is basically an upgrade from my old laptop with the bonus of replacing the ATI card I was having problems with for a Nvidea card. My question for you guys is if I should sell it. My original plan was to sell the W90 and use the money to buy a car and pay off some debt, with this new laptop though I am not so sure if I am going to want to part with it. Does anyone have any advice/know if it would be worth selling? I wouldn't sell it for under $2000.

I don't have any idea whether you should sell it or not, but considering they can be had brand new for around $1,600 you should probably reconsider your selling price.

I've seen them go for $2000 or more and this one will be new. The only problem is there isn't a big market for expensive year old laptops when there are slightly better laptops out for the same price. This is one of the factors I am considering for why I shouldn't sell it.

Yeah, but time has passed. Prices come down.

Here's the newer version (the A1) for $1,649.

Where exactly have you seen used versions of this laptop go for that much? I'm just trying to be realistic here with you. It doesn't matter that it's coming new from ASUS. Because it's not coming from a store, you're not going to be able to sell it at a "brand new" price. And the brand new price for those is not close to $2,000 right now. I checked Ebay completed listings too. The XT is outdated enough that it doesn't even show up on there and the A1s go for right around $1600. There's lot of people trying to sell them for 2k+, but those auctions ended with no bidders.

So with that being said, hold onto it if you're not willing to sell it for less than that. Because you're not.

I know what you are saying, the prices I saw all came from craigslist so they probably were not accurate anyways. I guess I will have to lower my expectations on price if I do decide to sell.

Yeah, Craigslist is not an accurate gauge of value by any means. Good luck with whatever you decide.
