Macbook Pro Unibody--Touchpad Bein' a Butt

Hey guys

My pretty new (2-3 week old) Macbook Pro is having some touchpad problems

it seems somehow...jammed. It's acting the way it would be acting if a spring somewhere were broken--the left side is lower, and it can still act as an LMB, but it takes far more pressure than it used to.

I just know it's something dumb like crumbs--basically, something I could easily fix if I could just get in there with some compressed air or tweezers. Unfortunately, this computer has no point of ingress--part of the unibody charm.

Now, I'm a busy student who cannot just go without a personal computer for however long it would take to send this in, get it fixed, and get it sent back, so do I have any other option? Anyone know any tips or tricks here?

You should probably take it into the Apple Store first and see if they can do anything right there for you. Because it's so new, they may just swap you out with a new one. I'm not sure how you could actually get crumbs under there. There's no gap for them to escape under.

Yeah, take it into the Apple store and they can fix it on the spot - Trackpad tension is controlled by a tiny tri-wing screw underneath, which they'll need to remove the battery for and adjust slightly.

Yes let the shop do this

That screw breaks way too easily, and if they break it well they have spares on hand

Don't try to adjust it yourself, it'll just break

And if you break it yourself trying to fix it, that's probably goodbye warranty.

Guy that works for me had this same problem, the Apple store guy fixed it for him quickly, we were in and out in under an hour.
