I need help with my Mac. I went to use the iTunes Music store, but it said I needed a newer version of iTunes (it worked fine a few months ago). So I go to download iTunes 7.0 but then I realize it isn't compatable with my current OS (10.2.x... I think). So do I really need to upgrade (and pay for) my OS just to buy some songs from iTunes?
Is there a way to enable automatic updates or anything like that and have it update iTunes that way?
I don't like my Mac very much right now. Also, it's an Emac with the 1 gig proc and an extra bit of memory that I threw in...
Oh man, I was so pissed when I was forced to download iTunes 7. My OS can handle it, luckily, but I don't like using updates that I know I'm not going to need, and that take up excessive space. I hardly ever download music on this computer, so I thought that was pretty crappy.
I don't think you can have an "automatic updates" thing per-say, but if you go into the System Preferences panel, there should be a checkbox in Software Update that allows the upgrades to download in the background, and then you're alerted when they need to be installed.
I'm not sure if there's any fix for you regarding the OS problem, but I'll take a wander through google for a bit and see if I can search something out.
Thanks, I'm gonna try the Apple forums later too...
(I'm just hesitant to go to an Apple dominated forum. It may come to light that I think Mac's suck just as much ass as PC's and they may cyber-lynch me! :P )
