Let's Play Dead Space 2 - England vs America!

So time for another Helloween Let's Play! This one will be a bit different as I will also be doing some form of DS2 LPing. Helloween will be playing it blind (as always) and I look to you guys on suggestions on how I should play the game! He's also a busy guy so I will be updating the thread in his stead.
Yeah, you can use it until something else is available
But then you sell it
So I recommend not upgrading it
EDIT: Or not feeling forced to take my suggestions

I'm redoing them. There was a bug in the upload and the resolutions came out wonky. I've also fixed the framerate during recording so I don't miss 50% of the time. I'll be doing it again tonight once I finalize how I'm gonna do it.
So far we've got - Survivalist. No PC and no Ripper.
Gonna see if we have any more restrictions people might want to place on me.
Josh: It's fine. I just wanna do something to 'even the odds' since I've actually played through the game.
Looking forward to this. Helloween, I hope you're planning on getting the Javelin. And the Line Gun. And the Pulse Rifle. And the Force Gun. And the Ripper. And the Contact Be- actually you know what get whatever you like, they're all good.
Except the Seeker Rifle. That's good enough in a fight, but boring boring boring.
Magus`, I'd say to make it interesting, you are not allowed to loot one type of container. Pick from corpses or crates, and never pick up items from the other.
I'm pretty sure all the 'important' items (schematics, etc) are just lying around, so it would be doable.
This is based on my first run, where I somehow didn't realise that there were goodies inside the green crates until somewhere in chapter 7. Since I made it that far, I'd say it's pretty doable.
Or you're not allowed to buy power nodes (these could stack, as I don't recall any power nodes in crates)
Or flip it, and you're not allowed to pick up power nodes, so you have to buy them all.
I'd also suggest picking weapons that don't see much popularity, as there aren't any really bad choices, and you can show off the alternate tactics. Detonator/Flamethrower maybe?
If you keep an eye on what Helloween's using and pick something different, we get to see different approaches to the same fights, which would be more interesting.

This is how I'll go, I think:
Survivalist - As suggested and matches Helloween.
Weapons - Flamethrower, Detonater and Seeker Rifle. (I'll use an non-upgraded PC until I get at least one of the weapons. I'll probably hold onto the PC until I get the SR for shooting switches.) *
Armor - No restriction on upgrading armor but I will not upgrade health.
As for the no containers/corpses thing, it's a good idea but I have such horrible gatherers OCD in video games that I'm not sure I could purposely skip items. :P
* Since the PC version now has the DLC, I could get all 3 weapons from the first store, but they will be slightly stronger than their non-DLC counterparts. If that would be fine, I'll do that.
Should be interesting. I am not looking forward to the elevator part as I always seem to take damage there. Outside if people care if I use DLC weapons to get the mentioned weapons earlier, I will start my LP tonight!

I'd say not to use the DLC (earlier fights are way harder if you don't have the tools you want to deal with them), as it was really added so people could buy an edge early on in the game, it feels like cheating to me.
And using the SR for switches is a pretty brave choice. Assuming you just want to hit the things, use the flamethrower. Holding down the trigger ensures that you hit it every time, so long as you have time to aim (and if you don't it doesn't matter what gun you have).
Man. I didn't get the ripper in DS 1, I feel like I missed out
Eeeh. Not too much. It would have made the game even easier.
I was playing through DS1 on normal, and I had to stop because it was just so ridiculously easy. ESPECIALLY with the ripper. The ripper makes just about ANYTHING but maybe very long range enemies ridiculously trivial.
I'd go through the game on hard again, but Eeeh. I'd have to start all over.

Never use the Ripper anyhow, though I use the PC as much as anyone else. Hrm.
Do I get to use the PC up until the first store or how's that gonna work? I guess I could melee things if there aren't TK items around.

This still doesn't mean I'm eating marmite mind you.
I don't actually have many challenges for you...Well, I can think of one...Don't upgrade Health.
I enjoyed Helloween's LP of the first Dead Space and I shall look forward to seeing what Dead Space 2 holds.

Ooh, that's a good one. I can't believe I didn't think of that.
How about
Best part of the first set right there.

Something like that. You did that with me didn't you?
Also yeah. WHAT WAS WONG WITH HIS FACE! Hard seems hard this time round. The healing items seem to heal less as well.
Stomping is so good this time round. I hope there are babies to crush.
Man. I didn't get the ripper in DS 1, I feel like I missed out

*HALLUCINATIONS*
That, and now Helloween is finally being rewarded for his corpse molestation.
That is what I enjoy the most. It no longer feels like a waste of time! woo!

I liked the parts where you didn't get the items from the first Necros you killed ;-)
Basically,I like it when Helloween is bad at games

Those are forgivable, he didn't know they contained delicious goodies.
