finish 012 story for it. You can also set up tents/cottages in the labyrinth, so future runs through it don't start you at 0. Though again, only specially marked items can be taken from the labyrinth and used in other m odes

Messed around and took some screenshots. You can get some cool images, assuming you're patient enough to mess with the camera.
In this one, it looks like they're teaming up. :^:
Of course, you can create some cheesecake shots as well. Tifa's chest can go all sorts of weird places, and she has different colored panties for each outfit. I don't know whether to admire the dedication to detail or facepalm over this unnecessary amount of fanservice, considering the only way you would get a good look at any of that would be to use the replay camera in slow-mo.

It is now. Just trying to make a point.....I guess.
I'm now stuck in a place where I don't know what to commit to with the game. I'm not in a hurry to play the 013 portion again because those guys are so boring compared to 012's heroes. There's Prishe and Gilgamesh to unlock, but after that?
I thought there was supposed to be a new ending with new credits and such. How do I unlock that?
Also there's an extra story battle that costs 2000DP. What's that supposed to be?
Labyrinth mode might be worth it if it got your special day bonuses. But in terms of leveling up Chaos characters it's better to just use 1-on-1 Battle mode. If they had just included a total random button that I could use to get a random opponent and stage without having to back up to the character select screen I'd be much happier.

In terms of story (minor spoilers)
I'm pretty sure I'm at the end. And literally dick all has happened. You walk around the world. Every so often you find a gate, and can battle dudes, or find a moogle who may sell rare stuff. There were 2 special gates that consisted of the story bits from Shantotto and Gabranth's scenarios of D1. But other than that, there's zero plot going on at all.
At the final gate, there was a lone chest, consisting of a fight with the new Feral Chaos.
I don't know what happens after that, because Feral Chaos is a fucking prick.

I'm sure the further you go the better they get I'm sure, but I always end up losing a match before I can get out and then, I lose all the equipment I got on that trip because I didn't make it to a doorway. I've gotten rather deep into the mode but I usually have to start at the very beginning again just to get gear to get back to where I was to maybe get further.
EDIT: Conan you'll quickly see when you run into moogles that sell items for KP just how much you need for what they have to sell. Non-Auto Summons usually go for around 60-120 KP
the cottage icon gear does get better. Eventually it becomes quite good. Also, labyrinth mode unlocks a lot of the store, so you can see what you need in order to get good gear/unlock the ability to buy some higher level base gear.

I love Gilgamesh. He has an air Brave attack that puts a circle of electricity underneath the opponent and knocks them up into the air, and the best thing is if you hit an AI opponent with it and bounce them up into the ceiling of an arena you can just keep spamming the move and they'll keep rolling around on the ceiling getting hit forever. Combine the electric attack with his air Brave attack that seeks vertically and knocks the opponent downward and you can just keep going back and forth and then finish it off with his air brave attack.
Also you have to absolutely love someone who tells Chaos at the start of the third phase of the fight.

I've been spending all my KP on summonstones. Manual Magic Pot is accessible nearly right out the gate.
Wasn't there some system in Dissidia 1 that had ghost friend cards so you could battle people? I vaguely remember that you entered a code to get them or something.
I've been trying this with Cecil's assist. I'm pretty sure it combos if you call him while they're on the way up, and he'll smack them back down right in front of you, which is great because Gilgamesh's HP attacks kind of suck at first. Works with Kain's wind spell too, and probably other stuff with the same properties (Watera for Lightning, Nightglow and Rising Wave for Golbez, Bombard for the Emperor, I can think of)
Anyone else found any good assist pairs? I haven't tried everyone yet, but so far I've liked Tifa for following up ground bounces (Cloud + Tifa is basically cheat codes, almost every one of his moves lets her launch them for Slashing Blow -> Omnislash Version 5, including most of his HP attacks), and Cloud of Darkness or Cecil for wall bounces. I'm also thinking Gabranth and Laguna's ground assists and both of Jecht's could be really good for setting up something with a longer startup time.
I'm a bit disappointed that the two major game modes are so restrictive of assist use, actually. Neither Story or Labyrinth give you free choice over it. And Story doesn't even let you pick your costume! You can't give me the Fighter costume and then take it away like that! :P
e: yeah, there were friend cards you unlocked with codes. Mostly really high-level fights with drops I don't think you could get anywhere else. I think there were also some easier ones you got through Mognet.

I unlocked him last night during the down time. He nearly trumps Kefka in the hilarity factor. I'm super-bummed he's not played by Bender again, but the new guy does a great job too.
The best thing about him is his running animation; he looks like a gorilla trying to stick out his chest, but it also makes him really slow.
Also, it went over my head how in his introductory cutscene...
the characters he interacts with (Squall, Zidane, and Vaan) are all from games where he's made a personal appearance. It was obvious enough with Zidane when he claims not to recognize Gilgamesh as he "only had two arms".
I started playing the 013 story, and they've made some notable improvements beyond the new chess board.
1. Characters have extra text dialog to help flesh out their interactions. It's not quite 012's camaraderie, but it's an improvement.
2. The world map continues to be nostalgic thanks to the character themes that play for each character. I want a full-fledged crossover RPG, dammit!
3. Cloud's battle dialog has been changed completely, removing his wrist-slashing emo dialog ("I won't sleep well tonight") with more confident lines.
4. Warrior of Light's battle dialog has changed too, eliminating the cheese factor and sounding overall more badass ("brute force does not equal STRENGTH!".
5. Warrior of Light's dungeon theme is fucking awesome.
In any event, I'm willing to say now (and completely without bias) that Tifa is my favorite character to use among the new heroes, with Kain a close 2nd.
She's just so damn FAST, and Dolphin Blow is an amazing move.

Didn't get a chance to play this weekend, but looking to get some time in today.
Warrior of Light definitely had the best lines in the first game. I love it when he responds to Ultimecia's villain monologue with "Are you done talking?". And "Bathe in the Light!" still has some cheesy charm - especially since I have a tendency to spam that move.
In the new game, my favorite lines are from Kain.
Exdeath: "So you offer your life for theirs?"
Kain: "No. I offer yours."
I've put maybe 3 hours into the first Dissidia and really enjoyed it, but got sidetracked with other games
I don't know why, but I'm this close to purchasing Duodecim, even though I've yet to play through the first one. I think there's something wrong with me
I think Kain's EX costume looks a tad corny though, but might just be me. I know what it's referencing, but the whole premise seems something out of a fanfic. I also like how he goes from purple hair sticking out of his helmet to having brown hair.
Still though, I might try building him up to beat Feral Chaos. His Jump is ridiculous. I did some brief AP farming on regular Chaos, and with Jump, you attack and Chaos tries to combo your ass, but you're already in the air, and you get the hit because he's in a combo. It's a dodge, counter, and attack all in one, and Chaos doesn't seem to know what to do with it.

I'm pretty sure the purple hair is part of his helmet, and not his actual hair.
He's always had that hair color since the original game. You can see it clearly during the ending.

I guess if you already own the first one it doesn't change much though :P
There's a nice continuity nod that's added to 013's story mode.
The heroes comment how some of the manikins take the forms of "unfamiliar faces".
Cloud seems especially disgusted that they've taken the form of "someone familiar", and also mentions how he feels that he's forgotten someone "very important" to him.
Warrior of Light definitely had the best lines in the first game. I love it when he responds to Ultimecia's villain monologue with "Are you done talking?". And "Bathe in the Light!" still has some cheesy charm - especially since I have a tendency to spam that move.
It was actually Sephiroth he said that too...which is much cooler, all things considered.
And to rephrase, it wasn't his lines that were cheesy, but the delivery of the actor. I'm glad he's improved regardless.
But again, I'm very happy they changed Cloud's battle dialog. No other character made you feel like shit for winning a fight by being awesome ("Can't smile about this one"). Even by Cloud standards, that was some emo commentary.
Ugh, why does 000 mode have to have level 85-90 enemies. That's going to be a lot of grinding to get 5 characters up there. I split my Prologus level up items and gave them all to Gilgamesh and Golbez because I definitely am going to be bringing them along.
Yeah, in my line of work we've come to discover how bizarre focus groups can be. You leave the facility thinking you have eveything figured out and then you look at the statistics a few months later and realize that that group of 12 people had no idea what would be popular among thousands of people.

Woo, finally finished FFX-2. I got the good ending.
You mean the one that doesn't involve mucking up the lengthy and meaningful journey of growth that Yuna has gone through since the original's end? :P
I've been meaning to take another crack at replaying X-2, but alas I can never get around to it. Besides, 100 percenting that game sounds like way too much of a hassle for my ever-dwindling attention span. Fun while it lasted though.
