SMT is the greatest, what are you talking about?

Not like that anime bullshit that Final Fantasy has.
Um, yeah, come back when you've played P3 for a few hours.

If that isn't anime, nothing is.

Man what. That game is totally accurate.

I've been to Japan twice, and blacked out both times at midnight.

    Dude, no.

The Dark Hour doesn't exist, and if it did, you wouldn't notice.

Besides, what kind of lame-ass game has a bunch of anime dorks shooting themselves in the head to kill anime monsters? Here's a hint: it's not FF.

At least in Persona our chicks get nailed.

The heroes don't turn their heads away in shyness, oh no: we're like "here's my room, let's get this done. No, I don't care if you're under the legal limit, we are sexing. This is happening".

Yeah, but that dude you play as is supposed to be you, right? So what you're really saying is that the whole point of P3 is to tolerate the fake chicks enough that they let you have pretend sex with them. As opposed to, you know, actually getting laid.

    Well, yeah.

    It's a videogame.

The only exception is Marvel vs Capcom 3: learning the combos in that game totally gets you real-life sex.

    It's awesome.

lol whatever. My penis is totally longer than the longest combos in that game. At least, that's what all the girls say about it. :P

    Waitaminute. . .

    . . . I see what you did there. - . - Very clever.

It's good to see FF IV Complete selling pretty well during its first week in Japan, what with everything going on there, and if that's any indication it should be a pretty strong seller in the West. Plus I just got a Best Buy coupon for my birth month that gives me triple reward points on one item. Gee, I wonder what I can use this on?

Dear Pinhole Galleria, if you're going to put a locked door and ask me to win a battle, you also have to put a god damn battle card ahead of it so it's possible. This is the 3rd fucking time you've done this, it's not funny anymore.

Wait what? I might be reading this wrong but - You would fight the battles after the door not before it.

Alternatively, you have way too many Blue Mages and Thief cards in your hand.

I dreamt my thread was moronic.

So Dissidia has started talking to me, with a new voice for each day. April 1st was Warrior of Light, today it's Firion. I assume it'll continue in order, but I hope the 012 heroes and the Chaos dudes also take part.

JP version has an English option.

It uses the GBA translation for the original game, and I assume the WiiWare version for After Years. Not sure about Interlude.

No, it's really that simple. They put the locked door in the list, but there's no battle card left to use to open it. You can't unlock the door until it's up front, but the remaining cards are all treasure or job cards. And nope, it wasn't a matter of having blue mage/thief cards mucking up the order.

It's completely a RNG problem. Pinhole Galleria is extremely tight. Maybe 5-10 cards total, and you can only hold 2 or 3 at a time. The game simply forgets to but a battle card within reach of a door sometimes. Which is stupidly annoying, but I eventually got through the damn thing.

Man, I'm surprised the ending to 012's story is still lingering in my head.
Someone said it was Square's second most downer ending for an FF since Crisis Core, and I'd say they were right.

The reason the heroes from 013 are out and about and able to save the world is because of 012 team's sacrifice, and they aren't even remembered for it.

Obviously they aren't dead (or at least not perma-dead, although I still think when the ending sequence states how Cosmos "saved her warriros", it applied to them as well), since this whole thing still follows FF canon in a crazy way, but I wish they had an epilogue or something that acknowledged this.

Another part of me wishes the teams banded together for one final epic battle. I guess Dissidia 3 would cover that, but they would probably start with a brand new storyline the next time these folks cross over.

012 team is totally superior. And that's with Vaan included.

    Depends if you
got the good ending in FFX-2.

But, in all honesty, it's the next biggest downer in an FF spin-off.

How in the hell do I use Tifa? The feints are just so finicky. One minute I'm doing crazy mid air teleports and kicking all sorts of ass, the next I'm being thrown around the stage in a desperate attempt to have any attack connect. Maybe her bravery attacks are just shorter ranged than I'm accustomed to. It doesn't help that her chapter followed Kain's on that end either.

I'm currently trying out Interlude. The story premise seems interesting so far, but the random battles-the random ba-the ra-the-th-t.

Seriously, like every 1-2 steps, mother of fuck.

Also, the Eidolons seem crazy obsessed with Rydia. When half the village is professing their love to her, it suddenly starts to make sense why she was dressed up in such skimpy garb. o_O

You need to hit X as soon as you hit circle. The moment that you hit X to feint varies with each move: her basic starting combo has you hitting X immediately after hitting circle, while her airborne combo has you hitting X after two circle presses.

It's tricky at first, but the reward is seriously worth it: once you learn to feint whenever you want to pass through projectile attacks, or to quickly close in on opponents from a distance, as well as the fact that you can delay your attack following a feint to further throw enemies off, I can say with full confidence she's among the top tier characters in the game. You can decimate foes within seconds.

Well you have to remember that a)She's pretty much the last Summoner alive; b)She's sweetness and light incarnate, and c)She tends to get along with just about anybody due to said sweet nature, so it shouldn't be surprising that she has tons of fans down there.

As for the attire, who knows; that might just be another one of Rydia's personality quirks, so to speak due to her aging discrepancies. Maybe she's just not that shy? :P

BTW, how're the enhanced graphics and sound compared to the other "16-bit" ports? Anything else nice in it like an extras or gallery feature?

This is something they continue not to be upfront about; is she really the only surviving Summoner? A guard in Castle Baron mentions that they're still discovering survivors from Mist, but is everyone from that village a Summoner?

As for the visuals, it's pretty much just like the previous PSP remakes as far as I can tell. Sprites and such are clean but sometimes give off that "made with flash" look.

Anyway, seems Dissidia 012 continues to be filled with secrets. Turns out there are "secret voice data" clips to purchase for each character, which seem to be comprised of famous quotes.

    Vaan:
    "I'm Captain Basch!"

    Tifa:
"Words aren't the only way to convey your feelings."

And Penelo's character comments return, and can be found under "Character Help". She pretty much lusts after all the males in the game like some sort of creepy fangirl. Also, with Tifa, she comments that "she has many talents that I wish I had...". Which probably means the obvious, but at least they tried to be somewhat discrete about it.

I'm at such a loss for what to do in Dissidia.

I'm at the point where all I have left is to start rounding up mats for the best weapons and armor but I'm not sure where to start. Or maybe I should just wander from gate to gate in 000 Mode grinding KP to finish buying all of the summons.

Goddamn. Feral Chaos as a playable character.

    Viva Via Dolorosa!

Trying to grind some KP in 000 mode and this attack plus Spew is making it so, so easy.

    Custom Rules
    -Max EX Force Absorb
    -Max Wall Damage

    Equip
    -Force to Courage

Once the match starts, use Spew to enter chase then hit them with a HP attack and if that doesn't kill them one use of Via Dolorosa when you land should hit them, the AI is so bad at dodging this attack.

    Oh noes.

    FF5 coming to PSN:
FINAL FANTASY V is coming to the PlayStation Network as a PSOne Classic. I'm particularly pleased to announce this, as V happens to be one of my favourite entries to the series, with its incredible expansion of FINAL FANTASY III's job system and, best of all, a main character with a pet Chocobo. The PSOne version of the game has full FMV cutscenes and features old-school FINAL FANTASY combat using the Active Time Battle system.

FINAL FANTASY V will be playable on both your PS3 and PSP. We'll be announcing the release date closer to the time, but we thought you might like to know that the game is currently being arranged for a release. Keep checking Square Enix Members for more info.

Warrior of Light works really well for the trick too. The enemy will almost always charge right into Acension range, letting you trigger the chase and go for the kill.

It helps that it generates a lot of Ex Force because of all the hits.

Or at least apply the GBA translation to the PSN release.

Seriously, for a good while I considered FFV the worst one in the series. It wasn't until I tried the GBA version that I realized just how a localization can make or break a game.

Edit: Seems Square NA has a secret "Project X" game in development.

Odds are this will turn out to be nothing related to FF, even though the western reboot rumors still persist (and it's still something I'd like to see).

Or it could be Xenogears. Oh Shi-

I thought Dissidia 012 would satisfy my cravings, but it's actually got me hungering for more info on the future of the franchise.

That, and the recent lunch between Kojima and Wada. A Kojipro FFVII Remake just feels so right. Hypothetically speaking, if there was any outside developer who could do justice to that game, it's Kojima's crew.

Let's add an extra pump to the machine with this comment:
Kojima's already known to be friends with Tetsuya Nomura (Nomura appeared as a special guest on a Kojima Productions podcast a while back), and there's already been some collaboration between Kojima and Square Enix, though not on actual games.

Didn't know they were buds. Also I'd like to hear that podcast with Nomura in it (those are translated right?).
