...furthering the DS's flight into the stratosphere in terms of pure tactical RPG/Sim bliss. Oh yeah!
Some of you may remember it on the Playstation. Some of you may remember the "Love It/Hate It" attitude. Well, everyone can live their dreams over again as the game is being updated and re released on the DS.
Here are a couple of screenies from the PSX incarnation.
I shall rejoice if the game comes stateside. More strat/sim/tactics games on the DS makes me a happy boy.
I've been wondering for ages why more strat-RPG games haven't come to the DS.
With Luminous Arc and Front Mission on the horizon, plus this, FF12 Revenant Wings and whatever that alleged Final Fantasty Tactics Advance sequel is going to be ... it's about time.
And I'm still holding a candle for ASH. Where are you, my beloved?
But wait...did someone just say Luminous Arc is confirmed for US release?? That's fucking awesome.
It's been hinted at by a few NIS employees, and when I last asked Atlus, I was told that they probably won't be handling it due to someone else scooping it up. I'm sure NIS wants to dip into the lucrative DS market, and this seems like the title to do so.
Also, Stella Deus is some what of a sequel to Hoshigami.
I remember I rented it, and it pissed me off because it decided the order in which your characters went, instead of a you go-they go type deal. So uh, maybe someone who liked it can "show me the way" as to how it's a good thing.
I've heard this game was extremely difficult, but I never got a chance to play it. This is cool news.
A lot of the difficulty, I think, came from people expecting "Final Fantasy Tactics... but different". It has it's own set of rules to go by, and if you can stick with them and keep them in mind, the game won't be as difficult.
One of the major complaints was character death. No reviving. At all. But that was pretty much put down with the advent of Fire Emblem.
The only issue I really remember is the leveling system. All new recruits started at level 1, and all enemies were bumped to the same level as your characters, which could be annoying.
I predict a number of broken DS's. I have this game for the PS and the difficulty ramp was so insane that I actually "retired" the game to save my sanity. Never was there a time where I yelled "This is bullshit!" more often.
Even if this comes out in the US, what's the chances of it making an appearance in Europe? That's why I fucking hate the gaming industry, because it knows i'll keep coming back for another. It's fucking B.O.H.I.C.A.

On the other hand, like any DS game you could import it from Amercia for the same price/cheaper.

Except if you live here in Norway where it'll end up getting rather expensive seeing as we're not part of the EU. While I have no love for the EU in general, it would be nice if we could import stuff for the same price as our neighbours.
Never played it, but I'm starving for TBS gameplay on DS. This game is on the watch list fo sho.
NIS is localizing another TBS RPG as well. Luminous Arc.
as much as i wish we were, right now that aint happening.
You know this, specifically?
Just curious, as I've been told several different things...
yes, i can specifically tell you we dont have any plans to right now. some time ago, i posted about how i thought it looked cool and wanted to look into it. but so far as i know, nobody else from NIS has said anything.

Most frustrating SRPG ever.
Not really hard per se, just cheap.
Say hello to archers positioned ten tiers above your party who kill your mages before you can even blink.
Stella Deus is way better, both in story and especially in art(but Hoshigami's is nice). Same system, less nonsense.
I've been meaning to beat it, but I really don't feel compelled to.
It's sad, because when it came out for the PSX, it was being hyped as the second coming of FFT.
Awesome! I always loved strat RPGS on portable systems. It just seems like the perfect type of game to have portably.
Oh, and about Luminous arc:
Atlus announced last year that it will bring Luminous Arc stateside, yet it has not made any specification. Word from localization producer Nick Maragos is that the translation is still underway and the official release for the game will be decided as soon as Atlus's other projects are localized. Mr. Maragos has stated that translating an RPG is time-consuming as leading an entire team through the basics of translating and cleaning up the text for overseas can be a tough job. He is formerly an editor of 1up.com.

that's interesting. my boss was just in japan last month and talked to the luminous arc guys about localizing it, which made it sound like the license was still available. oh well, i hope they did pick it up. i really wanna try it out.
Is the fact that it's currently only in Japan somehow... stopping you? I mean, you can hella read Japanese right?
i can certainly not hella read japanese. like, if i had it i'd be able to figure out the battle system and stuff, but i would miss pretty much all the story. i was hoping my boss would bring it back anyway, but he didnt and i dont wanna pay to import a game when i wouldnt be able to enjoy (or mock) its story.

I love looking at Stella Deus, but it just pains me to hear the god-awful voice acting. I'm afraid to play it in the company of other people for fear of embarrassment.

What's your job at NIS? For some reason I thought you were a translator.

They have phatties everywhere in the mean time.

Is this the one with the absurdly complex chaining sequences? I vaguely remember hearing about the game.
Of course! It's to prevent over-rape.
Or, it was, until Stella Deus came out.
But wait...did someone just say Luminous Arc is confirmed for US release?? That's fucking awesome.
Yes, that be her.

*shrug* I calls 'em like I sees 'em.
Just a small correction. FFT was nothing more than an updated Ogre Battle Tactics.
Just bustin you prongs, Spork ole buddy.

I don't remember thinking it was that tough, but rather, it just wasn't fun to play.
I tend to enjoy SRPGs for being relaxing, so having to worry about a goddamn meter all the time just pissed me off.
Steam ID : rwb36, Twitter : Werezompire,
Anyway, while I'm anticipating this (<3 SRPGs), it begs the question... Where the hell is Fire Emblem DS?...

Well, I don't think I would have asked if I did.

Oh, and about Luminous arc: from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luminous_Arc, so hopefully that's coming too.
Still, it seems silly for another company to go to the effort of translating it when Atlus already did.
