I just run into long dry spells where I need to gain four levels before I can make the next guy. But since I can't level up, I have to wait for a boss that I'll gain three levels on. Also, since I have no money unless they give me a quest with a cash reward, I can never recall guys from the roster back onto my team after fusing something new.
Even then, the new guys I fuse tend to have the same exact spells (mostly useless so far except for heal and the three damage spells), just with higher stats. I am just now starting to reliably get the spells that hit everyone, and rarely see the higher damage versions.
I hope P5 is nothing like 3 or 4. Half because I'm an old fart who wants everything to be like it was in the 90s, half because I get off on the delicious tears of angry nerds.
What "nerds" prefer the pop culture phenomenon of p3/p4? Wouldn't the older first person games be considered more nerdlike?
I also don't agree in general, persona has evolved into something completely separate from the rest of SMT in terms of feel, and that's a good thing. What I do hope happens is that P5 wont become stagnate and simply copy the same style from P4.
P4 GREATLY improved upon P3, I'd like to see the same in P5, but a divergence from the school/social link setting wouldn't behoove them at this point. That's what their other series are for.
...I don't think our definitions of 'nerds' match up. Just substitute 'fans', if that makes it easer for you.
But thanks for proving my point about how upset the fans would be if P5 dared do something different. Just makes me want them to break out and do something cool more. Of course, they probably won't because cash cow, but it would be awesome.

As for as the 90s Persona vs the current Persona only thing I really want is the ability for the entire group to equip multiple Persona.
Like, they could even do a happy medium thing.
Give the main character the ability to max all his through SL, then give the others natural affinities(like they'd start with their arcana already maxed, and they'd have different levels for the others).
Also, have theirs go up through like interaction with other characters through cutscenes and such.

That would be pretty cool I think.
Aside from the social links for the main character and affinity levels changing, that's essentially what they did with the older games, too. Everyone had "Best" compatibility with "their" Arcana, and then varying compatibility with the other Arcanas.
But yeah, the "super awesome can do anything hero running around with his three [strike]friends[/strike] meat shields" is my biggest pet peeve with the newer games.
But it was never a Persona one until Persona 3. The only thing "super awesome" about the protagonists in the first three games is that you could optimize their stats.
Eh, I could see them going back to everyone having multiple Personas, at least.
I, obviously, would love them to go back to real dungeons and a stronger plot throughout the whole game, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. Multiples for everyone, even if it's just within their Arcana? Yeah, I could see that one.
What I want out of a Persona 5:
Older characters again / non-high school setting (I think Catherine might be testing these waters).
Multiple arcana and ability customization for party members.
Either a huge evolution to the social link system or something entirely new.
Party members the main character doesn't get with, and thus being able to have their own romances (a la Junpei).
Oh hey, it's actually going to be about 4 and not some offshoot that has almost nothing to do with the games.
I guess they learned from Trinity Soul after all.
Still is going to suck. Anime adaptations of anything always suck.
You do realize that at least half of all anime out there is an adaption of a Light Novel or Manga, right?
Also, it's going to be made by AIC, who did not make Trinity Soul, and who are a decent studio.

Still, I don't have a lot of confidence about this one; after all, is a videogame plot.
Also, I'm shocked about this project; I thought japan hated persona 4.

I don't know, last time they did this it was kind of awful
Junpei is still a better character than the entirety of P4's cast aside from Kanji.
Wait what...
Also...two things.
MC having a voice will be weird.
Hopefully they steer clear of romantic involvements...unless it involves Chie then it's cool.
It won't be weird in English because he'll be played by Johnny Yong Bosch.
But then again, he also played Adachi, so...yeah it might be weird.
As for romances, it'll be interesting since there wasn't exactly a "default" romance like in P3 (Yukari...or at least it was canon in the manga). I guess they could just leave that open or use one of the Social Links.
I'd say Chie would be the best choice, but I think the fans prefer she stay ambiguously in love with someone else....
I wonder if they're implying that the shadow selves will be appearing outside of the TV world. It would be an interesting change, as it would be kind of monotonous to face each one in the dungeons.
Well I'm totally excited for P4 anime. How do you suppose they'd do the MC multiple persona thing? I can't imagine this'll be a full ~50 ep series for some reason, so I doubt it'd do well to have a demon-collecting gimmick. I mean, I'd love it to have 50 eps, but for some reason I feel it'll be at best half that.
I definetly want character development eps for social links. My favorite parts of both P3 and P4 have been the characters, story, and social links.
On a similar note, are we even sure that Persona 5 is happening? If it is I expect it to be on PS3. I'd love it to be, in fact.

Also, if you're not spending at least 2 hours fusing every time you go to Tartarus that means you're not fusing enough.

I know. They weren't harvest moon with demons until P3 either.
But after the sales of P3 I wouldn't expect a return to the P2 ways ever.

Yugioh is an anime based on a card game and it was great. Persona 4 will be an anime based on a card game so it will also be great.

No excuses here. They better get their shit together on this one.
Also, I'm totally okay with them creating filler episodes in order to flesh out all the Social Links.
And they better play this track in the show:

He's fun and goofy, but I don't believe he's in any way as well written as the cast of P4.
Them spending so much time putting him in a poorly written "romance" kind of brought him down a lot too.

Out of all the wrongy things I have ever read this is the wrongiest.
I've heard the Tales anime series are really good too, using the same studio that does the FMV for the games.

Many of the P4 staff is involved, including the actual composer of the series.

Slightly more optimistic, animation looks solid. (And Yu Narukami is marginally better than Seta Souji. Ech.)
