It is the dawn of the 22nd century on the third planet from the sun. Humanity, broken free from its eschatological thralls, now watches as a lone boy stands before it. Within his hands, he controls the power of Mephistopheles – a force which can breathe life into that which has none. Animated machines devour the helpless; buildings shower the streets with storms of glass; cups, trains, bridges, whole towns – the remnants of civilization are transformed into bloodthirsty beasts whose only purpose is to wield the hammer of judgment.
The boy’s name is Faust, and he will not stop until he has cleansed the planet of humankind and claimed it as his own. Centuries have passed since his advent, and the world now holds its breath as the End of Days draws ever closer. Yet hope is not lost. Hidden among humanity’s last remaining survivors, an elite unit of specially trained ninja known as Moondivers has been lying in wait for orders from their Shogun to embark on one final mission to reclaim the planet. Today, those orders arrived.
So, sidescrolling platformer with ninjas and robots? Customization? Crazy ninja abilities? This game sounds awesome, but I have doubts... lets see some gameplay.

Maybe it gets more interesting as you gain more levels later on, but I gained 5 levels in the demo and all I was doing was repeatedly mashing X and doing A-okay
It didn't help with the game's repetitiveness when they stick you into combat "rooms" and make you fight enemies for way too long an amount of time before you move on.
It looks great, however, moves at a fast clip and controls superbly.
In the second level, enemies start to change up, and it becomes much harder to just mash x and win the level.
For the most part the combat is pretty basic. You have a standard slash and a slash you can charge up do more damage. There's the standard double jump, slide, air slide, and some kind of air foot stomp that isn't very helpful. You also have a skill tree of about 20 or 30 abilities (magic) that you can choose 4 of to equip simulatneously. Other than that there's not much to it. Run, slash, double jump, magic, run, slash some more. Your character is super agile and you can walk/climb on all surfaces like in strider. Playing multiplayer is supposedly the way to go because apparently it gets really hard in later levels.
Some abilities can be combined to use with your partners, but I didn't really see the benefit to it. Aside from base stats and starting abilities, there's not much difference to the characters. Plus in order to unlock new abilities, you have to find these little gold orbs throughout the stage instead of just accumulating XP and leveling up. I guess it was to give you a reason to replay the stage, but some of the abilities you really need, it becomes kind of a chore when you want to unlock something else but you have to go back and comb the level to find an orb. Also, if you look at the video you can see the action is pretty run and gun, however every few screens or so they stop you, a barrier pops up, and you have to clear all the enemies before you can move on. It just seems in an action game like this where stuff is all over the place, it feels weird to suddenly stop and fight waves of enemies.
But like I said, its fun. The graphics are really colorful and the screen fills with enemies. The music and sound effects are decent, but after a while I could swear the same music was repeating in each level which got kind of annoying. Its a shame too because I actually like the music, but I definitely don't want to hear the same track the entire game. Anyways, hope that helps anyone who is considering this game.

The maker of Strider really worked on this. Strider Rearmed?
I want to buy this now, but I know I'll just pull a Zen Pinball and end up rebuying it on XBLA.
