I know that the game basically takes place on the bodies of these giant gods, yes. But visually it basically looks like that dude's just been cut off and is floating in midair, which creates a weird effect. I'm saying the perspective doesn't work well for me in the boxart.
Wow. Everyone should read this. Nintendo needs to get their shit together if this is a taste of things to come for WiiU.
Maybe it's because I pay more attention than most but I didn't see any new or novel information in this. Yes, in addition to the trio of games fans are requesting now, we didn't get Fatal Frame 4 or the sequels to Trace Memory or Hotel Dusk. No, there was not a lot shown for Wii this E3.
It's not a very balanced article, though - they failed to mention Starfy and Glory of Heracles that were brought over recently, the first games in their respective series that made it overseas. (If they'd want to argue that Heracles sucked and thus shouldn't count, then they shouldn't be bringing up the sequel to Trace Memory either.) Nintendo also made a big push with Monster Hunter Tri and Dragon Quest IX, and ever since SSBM they've kept us well-stocked with Fire Emblem.
It's easy to point out missing games without looking at the ones that are there.

He does mention that though - not with specific names but he did say in the article that Nintendo has been WAY better about bringing games over than in the past.
That said, I think the ultimate argument the article is trying to make is that Wii's upcoming lineup is *awful*. It's barren, save maybe 3 games and a bunch of casual/licensed garbage. Why *not* bring these over? It's a good time to do it - maybe then their lineup wouldn't look like they are completely abandoning Wii for the next year.
In any case, no the article doesn't really say anything new, but it does help bring awareness to the issue. If anything, it might better help Nintendo see that people actually want these games localized.

We are halfway through 2011 and we don't even have a release date for Nintendo's first core Wii game of the year. And there are only 3 games coming that we know of: Kirby, Rhythm Heaven and Zelda. That is unacceptable output for Nintendo as a platform holder, especially considering that there are multiple well-reviewed core games that will be available in every region OTHER THAN North America by the end of the year.
It doesn't matter whether they localized Glory of Heracles a couple of years back. It doesn't matter that a Starfy game came over. The problem exists now, and Nintendo of America continues to show zero signs of giving a crap. As far as these games go, it doesn't matter too much personally as long as they're localized in English in Europe; my Wii is modded, so I'll play them anyway. The issue is that Nintendo has a new console coming out next year, and they're wagging their tongues about pushing to recapture the core gamer, but they're leaving the people who already own their console out in the cold.
And the bottom line is, if Nintendo of America doesn't want my money enough to support their console with their own games, then they don't deserve my money enough to get it for the WiiU, or anything else they come out with.
They're being given a chance here, to put their money where their mouth is, just like everyone who preordered "Monado" has done. If you give a crap about having core gamers on your console, release some games. Period. Shit or get off the pot, put up or shut up.

I'll cross post this:
Canadian shopping site added pre-order entries for the three games just to support the cause.

That's what they're pretty much doing though. I'm sure most of the resources have already been repurposed towards the WiiU and 3DS.

Yeah, it's sounding even more like the thread title is true every single day.
The only Wii games I wanted at all still were Last Story, Xenoblade, and Zelda. If two of those don't even come over, I may actually skip Zelda, at least at launch. I'm so pissed about this that it's actually devalued the new gen of nintendo consoles in my eyes. I was so psyched when the Wii was first announce, and now I feel like Nintendo has just dropped the ball over and over again time after time and they're still doing it.

Your dead right Professor. Personally Big N has pissed in my Cheerios when it comes to their console market. Hell, when it comes to the 3DS If it wasn't for the 3rd Party (see Atlus/possible NamcoBandai) support for the handheld I'd just wash my hands with it. (Backwards compatible to some games I seriously love didn't hurt either.) Seriously, I haven't seen a company shoot itself in the foot with this much enthusiasm since Sony's early PS1 days.

Yeah, but there's nothing 3rd party actually announced for the 3DS that has me sold on a $250 console so far, plus the 3D gimmick is just crapsauce that my brain doesn't even register. They saw that innovating worked for them last generation, so they're trying as hard as they can to innovate the shit out of everything. They've even trying to show that they've realized that innovation doesn't work without the games, since they're pushing on 3rd parties for the 3DS and WiiU. But they're totally abandoning their core fans here in more ways then one as they essentially leave the Wii to die, and drop their longstanding principal of dedicated, affordable gaming devices.
I think the Wii selling on pure hype for so long got to their brains.
And there aren't even any real publishers left who could pick this game up outside of Nintendo, are there?

I won't argue over the costs. Licencing fees are a headache, etc, etc.
It's just the attitude. But then again, if I hop in my way-back machine the NES and SNES era of RPGs weren't so great up until the late era bloom and even then we got maybe 1/4th....1/20th of the titles that were out in Japan at the time.
Even if it is that easy, I don't want to have to pay extra for UK conversions and/or shipping just to get the game.
I just don't understand this. How expensive is it to take an already English-translated game and make it Region 1?
I'd imagine expensive enough that NOA can't justify it. Not when their best selling games are shit like "I spent an hour making this with my buddy steve but look there's silly Mii rip offs on the cover- THE GAME".
I do however think when they see NOE's sales figures and realize some 60% of them should of been theirs it might change their minds. Their flat refusal to let Atlus publish it is staggering and I wonder if that's not a problem on Japan's end. They get a profit but NOA doesn't get dime one if another publisher picks it up

Put money in my kickstarter to buy Nintendo.
If we don't make enough, I ensure you I'll burn through the cash on the wildest bender the videogame industry has ever seen.

Yeah, that Facebook message is bullshit - "Thanks for being such passionate fans! To show our appreciation, you can go get fucked!"
Yeah. My position in the WiiU just dropped from 'skeptical' to 'bet heavily against'. They just flat out don't care if the library or release schedule of their home console is complete and utter dogshit at this point.

Even so, there is still plenty they could release, and most of it with minimal effort (given European English releases).

Better to pick up Japanese. Then you have the added benefit of speaking Japanese.

Hmm? Oh yeah, helps with imported games too, whatever. I'm going to Japan, baby. Anata to oyasumi arigato, meatbags.
The Wii is cancer for JRPGs.
How I deeply wish Xenoblade was on another system. Any system.
Fuckers should have dinner with Namco while pissing on RPGs they have no intention of ever localizing.
