So, does the WII region lock games? Cause this actually looks like it might be worth a play on my MH3 box. Honestly though not enticing enough to mod it.
Wii does region lock. Not that I've done it, but I'm told homebrew unlocking requires nothing more complex than an SD card and the internet.
Homebrew region unlocking is really easy. There are wikis out there that explain it in a very simple, straightforward manner.
I think you need a bit more than an SD card and the internet though, you tend to need a game that has some bad code in it that lets you access things that you shouldn't. Smash Bros. Brawl is one of them.

Not anymore, all you need is an SD card and the internet.

You cute naive fool. The name PAL is used as the Euro region label and has long since drifted from its original use a TV standard. Your TV will display it fine.
That's what I was wondering about, but the minimal investigation I performed did not spell it out. I know "PAL" signal standards are not a concern for high-def, but since Wii is standard def I felt it was still a valid concern.
I'm so glad that English-speakers can finally enjoy this game! This was my favorite rpg in a long while when I played it in Japanese.
A note for those just starting, this game will be torture for those who like to do 100% in their games. So many quests and items ^_^;;
I think of those who attempted to 100%, most gave up partway to finish the awesome story.

Well, we're not starting it just quite yet. According to Nintendo's site, the release date is the 19th of August.
Xenoblade's soundtrack is easily the best fantasy OST since Chrono Cross.

Is there anywhere to order this pre-order edition still from the U.S.? The red remote, extra covers and everything sound sexy, but Zavvi at least mentions nothing about them.
I'm too late, aren't I? :P
Edit: I hadn't realized the collector's edition was apparently a GAME exclusive thing. That's ok... regular edition ahoy. ;-)
Zavvi has been mentioned and offers the game for £29.85 which is about $49. Not sure if the free delivery includes outside the UK though. It also hasn't updated its release date yet. All things considered though, this is probably your best bet. Game.co.uk offers the standalone game for the steep price of £37.99, but it offers the bundle as well for £49.99, which Zavvi doesn't. Stores from Continental Europe are probably in the same group. I preordered the bundle in my local store for €59, which is around the same price.
Zavvi lists the United States as a shipping location. The address form is a little different than what I'm used to from U.S.-centered sites like Amazon.com, but all the necessary fields are there.

Yeah, Radiant Historia has a wonderful soundtrack. I ripped the few tracks they included with the CD and it's always a joy whenever it come sup in my playlist.
European launch trailer. May contain spoilers (if you can pay attention to what the hell is going on in the video).
About 50 seconds in...
I suddenly don't really want to play this game any more.
I know what you mean. But it doesn't seem to appear anywhere else in the trailer, and none of the other screens or video, even the japanese media, seems to feature it.
It was probably put in there as the obligatory cute thing. I'm pretty sure it's a party member, though.
We got Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG about 15 years late.
We never got Katamari Damacy, Earthbound, Xenogears or Xenosaga Episode 1 at all.
Those few are a tiny, tiny handful of the games out there that are US and not Europe.
At least Inazuma Eleven is a DS game. You can import that, no problem. No messing with the hardware required.
Unlike certain other titles Xagarath mentioned.

Each trailer makes the game look better, but the music cuts are awful. Not the music itself, but how often it changes during the trailer. It's very distracting.
Only three of these characters can enter a battle at once so it is up to the player to choose which members they like best. Characters are also able to form relationships with each other; this helps them perform better together as well as create more powerful gems when produced from minerals.
The script is corny as hell, but the voice acting is actually very good. Proper English casting and the option to choose Japanese voice tracks? I must be in a lucid dream.
My god, I want to play this so bad. Apparently it's simple as hell to make a region free Wii. Also, with some app on the SD card it can be installed like a 360 or PS3 game. Xenoblade with little to no loading? Sure!
So the game is coming out in a couple of weeks, and no confirmation of a NA release is in sight.
Right now I'm contacting a couple UK sites to see if they can nab me a copy for review purposes, but I might cave in and buy a legit import copy regardless.
According to some folks, homebrewing a NA Wii to play this game is a piece of cake. Would it be allowed to post said instructions here? I won't have to buy any additional flash cards or anything, will I?

No new flash cards required as long as the one you have is under 2gig, in my experience.
And as far as permission, that is definitely something I would ask a mod about.
Btw, I just modded mine a few weeks ago. I can share the steps I used if you get the go-ahead.
We used to have a Homebrew thread. Didn't LewieP run it? It told you what to do to get the HBC running, because installing it isn't illegal or anything. That alone won't let you pirate games or do bad stuff, so it was fine to talk about. We even had threads on stuff like the Fatal Frame 4 translation which requires homebrew to work, and the mods were fine with it.

Just PM me to be on the safe side.
And by flash cards, do you mean SD cards?
Oh, and a place where I can order it without paying absurd import fees. Maybe even a deal?

Terribly uninformative article though. The guy really didn't like Xenogears and Xenosaga. :P
Eh, I'm going to guess you never played Radiant Historia.
Mitsuda and Shimomura are both very much at the top of the game in their genre.

PS: If you happen to live in France, the first 1,000 people that register the game on their Club Nintendo account will receive a 200-page artbook.
Getting import games working on a PAL region SNES isn't that hard if I remember correctly. It's just a tab right?
