360 Controller warranty?

Couldn't find an existing thread to plonk this in. I picked up my 360 controller today and the X button is dead, it doesn't do anything. Fortunately I have two spare, but this one that's broken came with the 360 I got at Christmas. Should it be under warranty? I recently had a leak in the house (ok, I let the bath flood) and it may potentially have gotten damp, so it could be water damage if that makes a difference.

Anyway, cheers for any help or pointers. I don't know where the console was purchased as it was a gift.

I think its 1-year with the console, 90-days if you bought it separately. Just say it was the one in the box with the console.
