I friend of mine has about 130 gallons of a rare sherry wine in his basement, and he wants me to check it out. I'm going to head down there later this evening, but I want to know if any wine experts could give any second opinions. Thoughts?

130 gallons?
Even if it's good wine, that's an amount of wine that'll grow tiring after awhile.

"Rare sherry wine" doesn't tell me anything at all. Are you thinking of buying all of it or just a little bit for personal use? If the latter, taste it, and if you like it, buy some. If the former, no. It's a terrible idea.
Can you drink 656 bottles of sherry before it turns sour, *and* enjoy it enough to justify whatever you end up paying for it? If yes, then get on a liver transplant list and go for it.
Kinda seems like a silly idea to me.

Uh-huh.
Is it by chance, 130 gallons of Amontillado sherry? If it is, definitely go and check it out. It will definitely be worth it for that rare of a vintage.

When I originally read the OP I though "Heh, sounds like that Poe story. Wish I knew anything about sherry to help."
I don't see how he could unless that basement gets wifi and he's really dexterous with one hand.

What exactly is it? 'Rare' could be lots of things.

I looked at the link but only read the first couple of sentences.
good job sir.
Not at all, I didn't get it at first either. But you're often prominent in H&A so I found your helpfulness amusing
That's what you get for not reading Poe since high school
I missed this the other day.

Wet Mortar really screws up the wifi signal... I don't think we're gonna be hearing about the wine. o_O
