Having troubles getting a birth certificiate

So My mom says she has my birth certificate "somewhere" in our massive and cluttered house but I'm not 100% sure I will find it. So I checked out how to get a birth certificate in Ontario and I'm having a problem getting one piece of information, a gaurantor. A gaurantor is someone who is of a specific profession like a dentist or a cop or a lawyer and I have known them for 2 years. I'm not sure if I can find someone like that and I'm wondering, what do I do?

I really need a birth certificate as I would like to get types of identification such as a drivers license or a passport and other things a birth certificate is needed for. If I am unable to find a gaurantor what can I do? Could I just get a friend/family member to say they are a gaurantor or will a background check make that impossible to fake?

Are you in school? Try a teacher as your guarantor.

Ugh, these fucking broken forums kept me from posting this first.

According to this a primary or secondary school teacher is just fine for that purpose.

If you have a teacher you know well at all there should be nothing stopping you from swinging by the school and just letting them know what's up.

It shouldn't be a big deal, I walked in there even after being out of the school for a couple of years, asked to see him, let the office secretary know why I needed to speak with him, and he was able to help me easily.

Just look up the information they'll need to provide to be a guarantor, I don't know what they do to check but it's probably little more than a phone call.

That said, don't use someone who doesn't fit in the list of acceptable guarantors. It just doesn't strike me as a good idea. Consider that if anyone were able to request a birth certificate and give some random friend or family member's info as a "guarantor" identity theft would be a hell of a lot easier.
