Playing Left 4 Dead 2 with a friend

Got a friend who just got a new computer, and we both want to play L4D2 online together. I have L4D2 for my PC, bought a physical disc, registered through Steam, all that. He's got L4D2 on his 360. I'm not going to buy a 360, it's probably easier for him to get L4D2 for his PC. What exactly does he need to do so that we can play this game together online?

Can he buy it virtually through Steam and then that will work? Or does he have to run to the store and buy a physical copy of the game?

Yeah, he can just buy it through Steam. If you add him as a friend it's easy to get in a game together too.

It's the same game either way. Buy the steam copy, make sure you're both friended, and play away.
