The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I have this thing on my finger. It's a little lump, sort of like a skin tag, and it's quite small. Maybe a millimeter or two across. Every two months or so it gets big enough that I can peel it off, and it leaves behind a small wound which heals quickly. Then my finger will be normal and the skin is flush for about a month, then this lump starts to grow and then eventually it comes off again.
I'm more annoyed by it than concerned at this point, and I'd like to get rid of it, but I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of information on this thing before I go into the doc.
It's probably just a growth or benign cyst that has roots under the skin. You're just taking out the top part, so it'll regrow from the roots again. A doctor or dermatologist can generally take out the roots so it doesn't come back... though for future reference, if you get another one, don't try to take it out yourself. It's easier for the doc to do it if you haven't screwed with it and probably created scar tissue.

I agree with Slider. It sounds like you might have a wart to me.
They are really common. I had a hand full of them when I was a kid, and I've had 1 of them on and off throughout my 20s. If it *is* a wart, then you should stop picking at it, because when they bleed, that's when they spread.
To get rid of it, you have a really small procedure that is almost painless where the Doc sprays liquid nitrogen on it, and it freezes, dies, and falls off. In the UK at least, you can buy over the counter stuff to treat them yourself, but nothing is as good as calling in to the Doc and getting it frozen off.
