Anyone know if Nova 6, the super evil Nazi chemical weapon from Black Ops, is based on a real world chemical weapon?
I like how ingrained the game was in actual Cold War events but the idea of a secret Nazi outpost in the Arctic or an unused chemical weapon by said Wacky Nazis is curious.
I'm not sure the "Nova 6" designation is anything at all, but most of the commonly known nerve gases were first discovered by German scientists in Nazi Germany. It's not that much of a stretch to say that a nerve gas was a Nazi weapon.
Look up the work of Gerhard Schrader for details. I think you'll find some nerve gases on his resume that are, unfortunately, household names.
EDIT: In fact, if you look up anything about "Nazi" or "World War II" and "secret weapons", you'll find that a nerve gas is probably the most PLAUSIBLE thing that you'll get from the hits. Supposedly, the Japanese scrapped the development of a ranged microwave weapon, because of range issues, for example.
EDIT 2: "Nova 6" is likely a bastardization of Novichok agent, developed by the Russians.
