I think I may have had a seizure

So I am not sure, but I think I may suffer from seizures.

I was at my friends house recently and we were chilling, then I felt one of my black out's coming on, I have been blacking out like this since I was a kid, but I never thought anything of it.

This is the first time I have had one of my black out episodes infront of people, and my friends said that they saw me get all rigid, and shake and thrash. My friends said it looked like what resembled a seizure. This scares me, because if this is true, then all these times when I thought I have just been blacking out, I have actually been having seizures. If this is a seizure. The downside to this is I am poor and have no insurance, so I have no way of going to a doctor to see if I have seizures or not.

So I was just wanting to see if you guys had any advice as what I could do to make sure I don't die from these episodes, if they even are fatal.

There is nothing you can do but go to a doctor. There are programs for poor people. Medicaid for instance.

Yeah, that sounds like a seizure to me.

Start looking into medicaid if you're in the States

Did your parents ever notice you randomly blacking out like that?

On the bright side, dying won't cost you a dime
This can be life threatening. Figure out a way to see a doctor post haste.

    Do you drive?

Because you shouldn't until you're on medication and being treated by a doctor.

My parents did notice, the first time it happened, it was when I was in the middle of a bowel movement, when I went to the doctor about it, he said it was pain related, due the the bowel movement. It happened after that, but we just thought they were due to pain. Also when it happens, I have no recolection of what is going on.
The shaking thing must be new, or it only happened when noone saw, until just recently. I am just hella scared about it, I don't want to die. Passing out like that is the worst feeling in the world, I feel them coming on too, my vision gets blurry, I start to have trouble breathing, and my head hurts, it is like I feel like I am going to die, then everything gets fuzzy. I guess that is when I black out. But then everything starts to get unfuzzy, and I wake up, then it is like I am all permafried for a few hours after the blackouts, or seizures, or whatever they are.
    Does it sound like epilepsy?

I do drive, but I haven't been recently, I have been to scared to drive, thinking I may pass out on my bike, then fucking die.

I have no idea on where to start when it comes to medicaid.

there are meds that control seizures (if that's what it turns out to be)

what state do you live in?

    edit: county would help too

edit2: odds are, you'll need to provide copies of your DL, Birth Cert (maybe) a couple of recent pay stubs, utilities (mortgage, prop taxes, elec, phone, and oil) to prove you're too poor to get non state funded aid.

Yeah, you're best to stay off the bike. Sorry if my last post sounded jugde-y, I didn't mean it to be. Seizures are a serious thing and you put yourself and others at risk by driving while you're suffering from episodes. I know it can be an enormous pain in the ass and a huge hit to your self-reliance once you receive medical care and diagnosis, as you have to be seizure-free for a year before you're able to be drive again. (Don't quote me on that, it may vary state by state.)

Luckily it's manageable with care and medication.

Sounds more like it could be syncopy. BM leads to pressure shift and out you go.

I sometimes get vasovagal syncope and black out, i get the tingles everything gets fuzzy and then fades back in when I come around.

I thought they were something like this too, for several years now, so I really wasn't too concerned. But when my friends described to me what happened, it scared me, because they said my back got rigid and that I was shaking, like a convulsion. So I wish it were just fainting, but I have an eerie feeling that is a seizure, I wish it not to be though.

I would also be absolutely positive they weren't playing a joke on you either because getting treated for fainting is different than epilepsy. As far as we know it could be either.

They wouldn't joke about that, they looked startled about it too themselves, when they were telling me about it, I guess it isn't something that someone wants to watch.

I mean i think I sometimes get the shakes but my blood glucose usually drops when i feint so that could explain it. obviously its hard to know what is going on yourself.

you might try a place like Patient First (walk in clinic) just to see what your best bet would be.

Don't go to the emergency room, because they are going to charge you a bunch for an ER visit. Do go to a doctor though.

It does seem like seizures. I have apparently had some...ended up having 2 or 3 in one night while I was asleep. Luckily my gf was with me to notice what was happening (shaking, drooling, etc). I still have no memory on what happened that night except waking up for a moment in an ambulance going to the hospital and asking why my boxer shorts were soaked...and they replied, "You just had a seizure and wet yourself"....that was fun and totally not embarrasing. I stayed at the hospital for them to monitor me and determine what the cause was...and they never could find out why it happened.

After everything was said and done, they put me on medication that reduces nerve activity (I think). Dylantin for a while until I found out I was allergic to something in it, then switched to Keppra medication.

So long story short, there is stuff to take care of the problem. Go to the doctor and at least get on some medication. Good luck with everything.

    That sounds exactly like epilepsy.

You need to go see a doctor. I wouldn't bother with an emergency room or anything, unless you have a seizure again. I mean, if you have been living with this since you were a kid it probably isn't going to off you right away. It is something that needs checked out though.

Luckily, nowadays, most epilepsy is treatable with one or two pills a day. Some types stop happening altogether after a few years worth of medicine, and you don't have to take pills at all afterward.

I have a type of sleep onset epilepsy and that is what happened with me. (although apparently "cured" isn't a word they use since some people have to go back on medicine).

Do you ever feel shakey when playing video games? when there are lots of flashing things on TV? That's a good indication it is epilepsy, though absence of these doesn't mean it is not.
