And the right side has a lone strip of pixels that are sometimes pink, teal, white, or blue. If I move the monitor enough it goes away, but sometimes it comes back and it's annoying as shit.
I called tech support and the guy sounded like he didn't even know what a monitor was. Anyone ever had such a problem and know how to fix it?
I am sorry to here you are having problems. Since I was the one that sugested you to buy the gigabyte board. I have the same one and mine dosen't have that problem? Have you check the video cable? Since you said that when you move it the line goes away. Does it do it with the VGA input as well as the DVI input? Other than that I would just send it back to secpter and demand a new one.

funny, I bought that board and then returned it cause it was pissing me off due to it not having an onboard light.
The input doesn't matter because when the monitor is getting no signal... the line is there.
DO NOT BUY GIGABYTE MOTHERBOARDS. My company I work for used to use them in all their products, until they started finding out that all the capacitors blew on every single motherboard. Suffice it to say, that costed a lot of replace.

Hm, just got the PM, then read this thread. I would also suggest trying the program again. I have known people that had to run the programs for a few hours before it completely fixed the monitor.
But yeah, if it was me, I wouldn't hassle with it. See if you get lucky on the next monitor. You paid good money to have something that works right.

*sigh* this happens to most asian manufacturer a couple years ago.
A capacitator manufacturer, that mkes them for most motherboards, stole a recipe from a different capacitator manufacturer. Unfortunately they accidentlly only stole half of the recipe, and so they started exploding.
This was a HUGE issue that affected lots of people.
These days the new Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 is a great board (although I prefer the Asus P5B-E)

I'll leave it one when I go to school or something.
Just fucking take it back, its obviously defective, i mean, its got a giant strip of multicolor pixels, straight out of the box, even when theres no input. Get a replacement that actually works. Youre going to be way happier doing that.

duh, but now I gotta ship the shit back and not have a monitor for a while. That's why I was seeing if it could be fixed.

The problem is probably due to a faulty connection somewhere inside the monitor. I've seen several LCD monitors have this issue (although the strip of stuck pixels is usually several pixels wide).
There's not much you can do about it. You'll have to send it back.

WAIIITTT! Switch out the cable! That might fix your problem. There has been issues with the dvi/vga cables shipped with this monitor.
Holy Shit! I was about to buy that very fucking same Monitor!
God dammit, and it's got all the fucking features I want, including HDMI, Widescreen, and a buncha ports for a really good price! Bah, if you wanna try and unlock those pixels, maybe try Undead Pixel?

You know, no matter what the product, you will ALWAYS find people with a defective one. Don't let one person sway you from buying a monitor just because they have a defective unit. That's just silly.

Yea seriously. It's a great monitor, I just got unlucky and got the borked one.
As long as you doods are on the subject of LCD monitors...
I picked up a 20.1-inch LG widescreen lcd monitor (L204WT) this week. It's very nice, slick, and overall great quality for the price. Problem is I can't get the refresh rate to go higher than 60Hz at the native resolution. Is this normal?
It's a problem because I can literally SEE the freakin screen refreshing. It's subtle but noticeable. It's not as bad as a crt monitor.. I'd get major headaches and eye discomfort.. but it's still a pain in the ass on the LG. Especially when I'm reading text.
I've obviously installed the drivers from the cd, and after looking around online there doesn't seem to be any new drivers for the monitor. I've even uninstalled my old vid-card drivers and updated to the newest ones. But still.. 60hz.
I'm also NOT using a DVI cable at the moment. I don't know if that matters or not..
Anyone got any ideas? Is the monitors native res simply built for this refresh rate?
Monitor: LG 20.1" LCD Widescreen (L204 WT), running at 1680 x 1050 (60Hz) native resolution
Vid-Card: ATI X1300, Catalyst vers 07.2
60Hz is the standard LCD refresh rate. It's very odd that you'd actually see flickering though; since LCDs aren't constantly redrawing fading pixels (they're just changing colour) there should be none at all.
I wouldn't so much call it "flickering" as .. well, I don't know what you'd call it. I can simply "sense" the screen refreshing. It's weird. Maybe I have sensitive eyes? I don't know.
I guess my biggest problem is that I find it hard to focus on text when reading in this refresh rate and I constantly get a slight discomfort in the eyes.
Maybe I should look into getting a different monitor.. = \
I really like this monitor apart from this refresh rate issue. At $330 CDN it's quite good for the price.

Refresh rate shouldn't matter on an LCD. They don't have an electron-beam scanning the screen, so flicker should be non-existent.
It's quite possible that you are seeing interference. The electricity frequency in North America is 60Hz IIRC, so the wiring in your house could be interfering with the analog signal. I get a similar problem at 75Hz here in Australia (since our power runs at 50Hz).
If at all possible, try a DVI cable. I think this will solve the problem.

Take a look and see what might work for you.
It sounds like you have some sort of stuck pixels...maybe.

holy crap... that Jscreenfix from that site fixed it.
Lets hope that line doesn't come back.
Thanks a lot
Good to know. I got an Asus P5B now by the way.

Thanks for the help, Marlor! Hopefully it helps; I'd hate to have to return this beautiful thing.
