The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
So, I'm house sitting all next week and need book recommendations, preferably ones I can read on my kindle to save packing space.
Here are some of my favourite books (in order maybe) for context:
A Prayer for Owen Meany (John Irving)
One Hundred Years of Solitude (Gabriel Garcia Marquez)
Reasons to Live (Amy Hempel)
The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini)
Cloud Atlas (David Mitchell)
I've read pretty much everything those authors have put out, so other, similar kinds of books are what I'm after.
The City & The City - Genuinely hard concept to wrap your brain around, but hella intriguing fiction if you bend your mind to it.
In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash - Ever see "A Christmas Story"? "You'll shoot your eye out!" Yeah, that movie was adapted from stories in this book. SUCH an excellent collection of tales from back during depression-era America.
Furies of Calderon In fact the entire 5-book series is on Amazon, and I fuggin' LOVE Jim Butcher. This whole world he's set up is excellent. Hell, I might go back and re-read this series, now that I'm thinking about it.
