Items Shipped to Old Address

In a moment of severe silly goosery, I made an order on Amazon and had it shipped to the wrong address. There are two separate items: a Portal 2 Release Day delivery pre-order purchase and an order from a seller on the Amazon marketplace.

They're coming in two different shipments and I'm hoping the collective will be able to assist me in figuring out how to get said products to me now that it seems too late for me to change where I can ship it to on the Amazon end.

I really hope that I don't have to visit the address to tell the current residents there "Hey, guys. I sent stuff here mistakenly. Mind if I get them from you?"

    1) Call amazon customer service on the phone, see if they can help you.

    2) Visit your old address, and ask about it. You'll look dumb but oh well.

3)Wait and hope for them to return the package to amazon or something. This is not a good option.

If the items were shipped UPS then they can do a delivery change. However there may be a charge for it. At my business UPS charges us $11.00 for a delivery intercept.

depending on when you moved, and if you had put in an address change with the PO, you might get it forwarded to your new address, but i think it doesn't work after a while

That only works with the United States Postal Service, not for independant shippers like UPS or Fed-Ex

Call Amazon. If they can change the address they will do so, and it may cost you, it might not. Only Amazon can change the address with the shipping company.

Option 2 really isn't even that bad.

I did this with a WORK package a couple of months ago (oops using my home amazon account).

The woman that lived there had the package stashed behind the door and wondered why I hadn't come by sooner.

Like others have said, definitely call amazon and see if they can change the delivery address. They might charge you a little, but they probably won't since doing so will help keep your future business (that's how the place where I work does things, unless you call a bunch of times and then it's on you).

UPS generally doesnt charge if theres been a failed delivery attempt. Fedex does though. For both, i find threatening to just let the package get returned gets them to waive the delivery fee. Just had to deal with this with fedex on monday actually. They called me and told me they wouldnt ship it without the fee... 20 minutes later it showed up at my office.

But yeah, call amazon first, and if they cant help, call UPS or Fedex and get it rerouted. If its coming by USPS, go to your old post office NOW and tell them about the change in address. That way when they get the package, they will just automatically forward it to your new address. It takes a while to get propagated through all the USPS post offices, but if you go to the one you know the package will show up at first, theyll have it on record and not even attempt to deliver it to the old address (unless its already been sorted and is in a bag waiting on a mailman to deliver it.)
