The new forums will be named Coin Return (based on the most recent vote)! You can check on the status and timeline of the transition to the new forums here.
The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Hello, East Coasters! It's recently been decided that there should be a meet-up for all of us in the mid-atlantic area, since PAX was too far north and not all of us could make it. There's lots of fun stuff to see in DC, and no limit to the amount of potential fun to be had, like drinking, and eating, and looking at old buildings and stuff!
If you're interested in meeting fellow forumers, claim so here! What would be even more great is if you provide us some plans and points of interest that we should pay special attention to! Ideal timeframe is: MAY!!! Small gathering (mostly the locals), probably the 14th or 15th, I think?Done! Riveting! Huge success! JUNE!!! Slightly LARGER gathering wherein people drive from all around to get together and do things! So far, no one seems to have a problem with JUNE 10-12. SO MUCH MORE SUCCESS! OCTOBER!!! PUSHING IT TO THE LIMIT (Circa October 10th) November, sorry.
I know of and have tried 9 different cupcakeries in the Delmarva area, so we should go on a cupcake tour!
Haven't visited the smithsonian and surrounding areas in a dog's age so that would be ballin
And oh man bits, I totally would have hit up the zoo with ya! Went there last summer and it was pretty fun! Pandas! Though the Baltimore zoo has a wine in the woods event every summer that is also excellent. Gettin drunk watchin cute animals is a good time

We can all get souvenir flasks and carry out the above?

Where ever we end up going it should be metro accessible as long as it's in D.C.
Just don't pick some random place no one can find. Unless you have a secret hideout.
I would be willing to search for a secret hideout.
Definitely somewhere metro accessible. I was thinking near Metro Central. Easy to find, identify, and access from places where people are going to leave their cars.
Also, is there something going on the weekend of May 13-15? Because I've just checked two hotels in the city and both had no availability o_O

There seem to be a couple different things but I don't think anything that would be drawing a huge out of state crowd.
Lostwords will say he's going then he'll bail out like a little bitch a week from the event.
bitch
I've come to expect as much concerning events of this nature. I anticipate about 25%-50% actual participation.

I'd be interested in this but I'll be down south around then. You guys should totally check out the museums though. Or do this during the Folklife Festival.
Posts
come to philly, though
we're better
We should start compiling a list of suggested activities.
1. Monument-gazing
2. Drinking
3. Zoo?
4. Museums?
5. Foods?
I mean, besides "This is Trader Joe's. Don't come here after 5 on a weekday or before 5 on a weekend."
And then make fun of it.
I'd be up for this even if it is in DC.
Perfectly alright! Perhaps you'll get acquainted with some of the other folks in the area
But I don't expect to be back anytime soon.
your mom
Haha! Seriously? Well...Okay.
But I don't have a house. I live in a dorm.
So this is possible but not if there are a ton of people arriving at this thing.
It's only 30 minutes, goose!
Also, Sassori, I was kidding :P
(I won't be mad, go to the zoo if you must )
This saddens me.
I know I'm boring and lazy but I was hoping other people would be boring and lazy too.
I take no responsibility! For the past four years, I lived significantly further away than I do now.
Well, if you really want, we'll see what attendance looks like? Perhaps we can organize a hotel party instead.

Good food, centrally located, full bar, etc.
Maybe I'm not a cupcake guy.

I found http://dc.about.com/od/monthlyeventcalendars/a/MayEvents.htm though. It lists some of the events in the area during May.
It's true. It would probably even be cheaper.
Yay Orange line.
Hmm, checked a couple hotels near me, and both were booked up specifically on the 13th and 14th. Not the weekends before or after. Not sure why.
My family went to go there and the line was around the block, so we decided to say eff it.
(because he will have eaten the other half on the way)
