Quick answers!

1.) Klassic outfits can only be unlocked with a redemption code via whatever retailer you purchased your game from.

2.) There are 300 challenges in the Challenge Tower.

3.) To avoid the creeper in the Krypt that scares the shit out of you, view the whole map, click on a section, and it will take you to the next available unlock. That or you can mute your TV and hope for the best.

4.) The strategy guide has tons of mistakes. It is decent, but was made hastily and is missing parts of combos, mislabels others, and even has wrong Fatalities on the cheat sheets.

How do I unlock costumes and Fatality inputs?

You have two options:

1. Beat the ladder with a character to get their alternate outfit. You can just look up everyone’s second Fatality and perform it in the Fatality trainer. After that, it will appear in the move list menu.

2. Unlock them in the Krypt.

Your main objective is to back away from Kahn and wait for his moves. When he throws his hammer or spear, teleport and then either do a combo or use an uppercut/torpedo move (although combos might be faster).

I don't think you can delete your saved game without deleting all the MK saved data.

Really the only way to start a new single player w/o beating the first is to sign into a new account, which is fucking ridiculous. I'm loving this game, but that *and the inability to skip cut-scenes* is fucking ridiculous.

Been playing for a few hours and so far this is the MK I've been wanting for years. It's actually fun to play. The only complaint I have so far is the Krypt. I feel like it will be confusing trying to find where the unlockables are when I get to the point where there are only a handful left.

You need to post the full link the shortened link thats in Share. In Opera I have to click the actual address bar to get the full link. Once thats done then you can copy pasta and it will work.

Just finished the arcade with noob. Kinda disappointed with the direction they went with that particular ending, but the game itself is great. Took a few games to get it back but the timing seems so much more fluid.

Anyone pick up the strategy guide? Worth the $20?

Strategy guide is decent. I got a regular edition. It has 2 rip off fatality sheets (Sektor and Scorpion are mixed up and there was at least one fatality that was wrong and I looked it up in the book and it was different). The guide is littered with spelling fuck ups, but other than that I have liked it. That is where I have gotten some of my combos from.

I would have gotten the KE of it, but it is $34 at Gamestop and I didn't want to wait for it to come from Amazon on the cheap.

I am jumping on now to unlock more shit in the krypt.

There's one Mortal Kombat commercial I'm dying to see again. The American commercial was for the Tiger Electronics MK handheld. School kids are discreetly passing the MK handheld around between friends in inventive ways and whispering Mortal Kombat. Someone please tell me that classic ermac costume is possible to unlock without the kollectors edition. I'm getting my ps3 copy from amazon.com, should come in before the end of the week. I couldn't possibly risk not getting classic reptile in case it wasn't unlockable.

Oh lord, my eyes are crossing. Must take a break for a while. 50% through story mode, about 20 up in the challenge tower, loads of secondary costumes/fatalities unlocked, classic Scorpion AND Sub-Zero keeping it real (thanks again to UVow for the Scorpion code).

Now to get something to eat, since I've suddenly realized I'm starving.

I'm hoping Reptiles is unlockable, as I REALLY dislike his default look.

On the bright side, I think his alternative outfit is amazing.

So how does this online pass thing work with rentals? This is the first time I've come across this, as I normally buy my games new, but this month was tight, and Portal 2 won out above MK for a purchase. Am I just boned, and have to fork over the $10-15 if I want to play online for my 5 day rental period? I know there's a 48 hour trial thing I read about in the manual (read: folded sheet of paper), but I wasn't sure if that was my only option.

I know what you mean. Having to press a button (R2 by default? Are they insane?) to block is really messing me up, and making me forget to block altogether.

For those of you with sticks, how are you laying out your buttons? Right now i have:

(throw) (FP) (BP) (Stance)
(block) (FK) (BK) (Tag)

so i can block with my thumb. Its pretty awkward because im used to lining up my index finger over the leftmost column and now i have to move everything one over. Just curious what you other stick users use because one of you probably has a better idea than this.

I was eyeing it but couldn't justify the money at the moment.

Does anyone else feel that X-rays are a little absurd? I played some player matches and a little blocking and landing an X-ray kept me in or won me waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many games I should have handily lost. I felt like I was cheating. Only reason I think the guy stayed as long as he did was because

The fatalities are pretty easy I found in this game. I did them for a few guys when I was messin with a friend in VS.

The krypt is cool though, I enjoyed the field of guillotines

You really only need 5 buttons (the four attacks and block) as everything else can be done with button combos.

Throw is FP+FK (X+A on 360), Stance Change is both kicks, and Tag is BP+BK(Y+B on 360).
I've just been doing x-rays with Block+Both Kicks.

Also as an interesting note, if you beat Tag Ladder, then the game counts it as clearing ladder mode with both games (for the purposes of the achievement) and unlocks both endings (it will show you the ending of whoever got the killing blow, but the other is then unlocked in the Nekropolis). However, it will only unlock the alternate costume for whoever got the killing blow.
