The dwarf moved around the nearest cobra that seemed intent on striking Tavaros, striking from behind before the serpent had a chance to strike. The axe bit through the serpent's body and bit into the stone underneath and Helwig bit back the temptation to charge the nearest enemy as adrenaline surged into his veins.

He surveyed the battlefield and tried to spot the next opponent to fall victim to his axe

((For the sake of brevity I'll ignore the fact you skipped the cobra's turn this round, Helwig...))

The cobras rear up and launch arcs of acid at the heroes, trying to blind them so they can make their escape. Helwig and Tavaros' are blinded by the assault, burning liquid streaming across their faces.

    Attacks:
Cobra 4 spits at Helwig: 1d20+8 17 vs reflex HIT! 6 poison damage and Helwig is blinded (save ends)
Cobra 5 spits at Crylin: 1d20+8 17 vs reflex MISS!
Cobra 2 spits at Crylin: 1d20+8 14 vs reflex MISS!
Cobra 1 spits at Tavaros: 1d20+8 23 vs reflex HIT! 6 poison damage and Tavaros is blinded (save ends)

    Moves:
    Cobra 1 moves to G8
    Cobra 2 moves to G1
    Cobra 4 moves to I7
    Cobra 5 moves to I2

Eison moves quickly, noticing his friends trying to deal with their blindness. He moves out and tries to damage a cobra to gain favor and heal a friend, but fails.

    Actions:
    Move: to B7
Standard:Sacred Flame vs Cobra 1: 1d20+6 14 vs reflex MISS.

The Gnoll Deathpledges run by the cobras, barking and yipping as they close in and attack. While Eison doges the spear coming at him, Crylin takes a nasty wound.

    Moves:
    Gnoll 1 Moves to B2
    Gnoll 2 Moves to C7

    Attacks:
(This is actually Gnoll 2, misnamed) Gnoll 1 attacks Crylin: 1d20+10 29 HIT! Damage: 2d6+9 15 weapon damage.
    Gnoll 1 attacks Eison: 1d20+10 19 MISS!

The Gnoll Warfang moves up (to E8) and speaks something foul and demonic, making sigils swirl around Helwig and egging him on to attack the Warfang. Helwing is marked by the warfang, he will take damage if he attacks anything else.

Just as the cobra poison impacts on Crylin's shield he vanishes with the poison left hanging in midair before splattering on the floor. Moments later he reappears next to the startled cobra and crushes it beneath his boot. Unfortunately the snake served its purpose and allowed one of the gnolls to slip under Crylin's guard and deal him a hefty wound. Turning to face the new assailant, Crylin focuses all of his attention on the beast before quickly missing him. Disappointed, Crylin steels himself for the inevitable return blow.

Poison in his eyes was not an auspicious start to this fight. "You despicable beast! I condemn you to the hellfire of the Abyss!" Tavaros screamed, lashing out in anger at the snake, who vanished in an inferno that errupted around it.

Moving forward, Tavaros could hear the barking and laughing of the Gnolls.
"All right, you brutes! You've had your fun, but that was the first and only hit you'll get on me! Now, watch in amazement as I fade away before your very eyes!"
Wiping the poison off of his face with a handkerchief, Tavaros was rewarded with a bewildered expression on the face of his foe.
"Hah! I am the great Tavaros Kahlir! Your first (and last) mistake was underestimating me, Gnoll!"

The Warfang's words seemed to be amplified for Helwig and his face scrunched as the demonic words were magically translated in his mind, "Kord damn you, my mother was a saint!" the dwarf yelled as he charged around Eison and a gnoll. The axe managed to push past the Warfang's armor and bite into flesh, though not as deeply as usual. "Hah, take that, pup!" he yelled and rubbed his eyes to clear the poison. "These are tears because of the snake's poison, not 'cause of what you said...." though he didn't explain the sniffling.

A cobra slides behind Crylin, lashing at him from behind. However, the battlemind proves too difficult of a target.

The cobra in the other hall readies another lash of acid, spraying the vile fluid towards Helwig. The acid adheres to the barbarian's face yet again.

    Cobra Combat:
    Recharge 2, Recharge 4: 2d6 5, 4 Both cobras recharge Blinding Spittle.
Cobra 2 - Shift to D2, Bite vs Crylin, Flanked: 1d20+12 18 Miss!
Cobra 4 Blinding Spittle vs Helwig: 1d20+8 26 Hit! 6 poison damage, and Helwig is blinded. Again.

Eison, once again seeing Helwig has been blinded, once again attempts to grant him the power to stave off the poison! The gnoll burns with sacred light, and the barbarian is encouraged to clean his eyes.

    Eison Combat:
    Shift to A7
Sacred Flame vs Gnoll 1: 1d20+6 21 Hit!
Sacred Flame dmg: 1d6+4 5 damage, and Helwig is granted a saving throw.

A deathpledge moves carefully towards the Kenku and stabs at him with a spear. The weapon digs into Owein, wounding him grievously.

The other deathpledge uses the flanking from the cobra to attack Crylin. The battlemind confounds him, as well!

    Deathpledge combat:
    Gnoll1 shifts to B7
Spear vs Owein: 1d20+10 23 vs AC Hit!
Spear dmg: 2d6+9 19 weapon damage to Owein.

    Gnoll2
Spear vs Crylin: 1d20+10 18 vs AC Miss!

The warfang growls at the barbarian after he is cut, and lashes back at him with his longsword. He then takes a step back.

The cobra charges the blinded Dwarf, attempting to sink its poisonous fangs into his leg. Luckily for the Dwarf, his body is attuned to defend from such poisons. Still, there is a lingering affect that makes the blind barbarian want to kill the cobra.

    Cobra's Actions:
    Charge to F7
Charging Bite vs Helwig: 1d20+12 28 vs AC HIT. 6 Poison damage, and Helwig is marked by the Cobra.

Eison calls upon his deceased wife's soul to bless his weapon, swinging it at the Gnoll. After smiting the Gnoll with a smash of warhammer to chest, Owein feels invigorated.

    Eison's actions:
Healing Strike on Gnoll1: 1d20+9 26 HIT. Healing Strike dmg: 2d10+6 13 plus Sneak in the Attack bonus dmg: 2d8 10 damage = 23, and Owein may spend a healing surge. Assuming he does so, the Kenku has 27(?) HP.
    Eison shifts to A6

The first gnoll, who is dazed, runs straight at Tavaros while keeping himself out of harms way from the Battlemind and the Kenku. The gnoll only finds cloth with his spear, the Tiefling twisting out of the way. The second gnoll, despite being encouraged to attack the battlemind, runs towards the unprotected Tavaros as well. With Tavaros preoccupied, the second gnoll would dig his spear into the Tiefling, had he not made himself invisible to the gnoll! Still, the spear just grazes by Tavaros.

    Gnoll1's actions
    Charge Tavaros: A6-4, B3.
Charging Spear vs Tavaros: 1d20+12 15 MISS! (Lucky sob...)

    Gnoll2's actions
    Charge Tavaros: C2
Charging Spear vs Tavaros: 1d20+12 23 -5 for Tavaros being invisible to him = 18 MISS.

The warfang growls and swings at Helwig, powered by his damaged nature!
Longsword vs Helwig: 1d20+13 18 HIT, even before blind bonuses. Longsword dmg: 1d8+10 14 damage (+4 while bloodied).

Leaving the gnoll he had been fighting behind, Crylin rushes to the other side of the room to try and assist the beleaguered Helwig. Marshaling his energies, he let loose a blast of power at the head gnoll but, despite crushing the snake in the process, failed to make an impact on the creature.

Tavaros dodged out of the way of the first oncoming monster, then recoiled in shock as a spear slid past his face.
"So, you think to surround me, foul beasts? Did I not tell you who I am? I am Tavaros Kahlir, Tiefling Psion, and I will not be defeated by the likes of you!" he roared, and punched the Gnoll in front of him, as psionic energy flared out.
He turned to the standing gnoll. "What are you doing still standing there? Get over there, your friend is in trouble!" His suggestion was accompanied by a psionic twist of the gnoll's mind, a twist that resulted in the creature stumbling over to his fallen companion in a daze, and striking him with his spear.
Tavaros shifted back, and nodded at the cleric. "Well Eison, I think we've got this."

Catching his breath after the battle, Tavaros' nostrils were filled with a foul odor. He glared at the gnoll.

Helwig takes a look around - appears there are plenty of places to hide something, but he unable to ascertain the location of anything of value right now.

The three heroes ganging up on the gnoll are enough to get what they want. He is in self-preservation mode now. "We are here to buy rust monsters from some sniveling beholder - maybe kill the beholder, too, once we get what we want." The gnoll then pauses, "What miners?"

The gnoll turns to Helwig, "Only a few. Most of us were on this floor; we came down when we heard the doors shut. We released the snakes, and then you came up. The beholder brought the rust monsters for the deal... that's all I could see."

Tavaros heard second-hand stories of beholders able to suppress a being's ability to see or hear another - much like the Psion does. It's quite possible the beholder had more than one deal in this tower.

"Go on, get out of here!" Owein calls after the gnoll, hoping he won't try anything stupid.
