Old Italian Sedan - Whats the make?

So I was at my mechanic and someone had brought in a old Italian sedan. I'd estimate it was from the late mid 1980s. It was a large grey 4 door with squareish headlights. Almost a cross between a late 80s Jaguar XJ6 and a early 90s Chevy Caprice Classic.

I asked the guy what the car was, and now I cant remember the name......

This is what I DO remember

The logo on the wheels was either a really stylized L or I. I think the letter was made of while and baby blue on a chrome background.

Name started with an L??

He said, "Shares a Ford Drive train has a standard 308"

also said that it "Shares components with Jaguar." (Seems odd).

Also said, "SUPER rare and only a few of them were made."

Any ideas????

I'm guessing a Lancia of some sort? Maybe a Thema? They had a 3.0 litre V8.

    Definitely wasn't a Lancia.

I also remember the guy saying that it was based on the Ford "Panther" platform which means the it would have had a 5.0 or 4.6 L

    The search continues

Some kind of De Tomaso, perhaps? I know they used a lot of Ford parts, fits the time period, and are fairly rare- might be one of these based on your description:

    Logo seems close as well.

    THATS IT!

    Its a Deauville.

The guy that owns the shop said he though the car was a waste of time and was wasting space in his shop. Pretty cool car though, especially considering that only a couple hundred of them were made.
