For the life of me I cannot figure out how to access my contacts list for Google talk on my phone. I can access my gmail and conversation history, but I cannot find open existing conversations or see who is online. What am I doing wrong? This seems like it should be intuitive and easy to access. I'm not using and third party apps or anything, just stock phone software. I know Google chat is on my phone because I can receive messages and respond and see my contacts, but only after someone has message me and it shows up in my notification bar. Once I exit out of the talk screen I have no idea how to get back there.
And to add: hold down the 'home' button and it should bring up a task switcher for your currently open apps.
It actually pulls up the last six apps you've directly opened. If you start an app running through another method (like open a music file from a file explorer) it won't show up on that list, whether it's open/running or not.
You can also use the search function (should be a magnifying glass button next to the home/back/menu buttons) and search youre entire phone for anything, its pretty sweet.

Minor distinction, but there it is.
