I have a hat that I've left sitting on the floor of my car for when it rains, rather than dealing with an umbrella or coat. I also have a coolant leak in my car, and because of that I keep a jug of coolant on the floor. Turns out the jug had a bit of a leak as well, but at least my hat absorbed it rather than the upholstery. I like this hat, and am wondering what a good method of getting this crap out of it would be. The coolant has dried out, so the fabric is kinda... greasy and crusty? to the touch. Do I just let this thing soak in a bucket filled with water and detergent for a week or so, or do I just throw out the hat? It wasn't expensive, but it was a gift from someone, so I'd rather hang on to it if possible.
It should wash out with just water. After all, it mixes with water in your coolant tank. Water soluable things should come out in water.
Either way it won't poison you unless you eat the hat if that is what you are worried about, and that would only be if it is ethylene glycol. If it is propylene glycol then it isn't poisonous.

and I wonder about my neighbors even though I don't have them
but they're listening to every word I say
Nah, was just worried that it'd leave a residue on the inside of the washer or dryer like excessively oily clothing. I don't think my roommates would be too appreciative of washing their whites and finding an orange tinge to 'em.
