Interviewing for phonebook delivery, how up should I dress?
So I'm going to a thing on Thursday for a job delivering phone books in my area, and I was wondering what I should wear. I don't know whether this is a one-on-one interview or a group orientation so I don't know how professional I should get. I was gonna go with a button down shirt, tie, and khakis, but some of my friends have commented that I may end up being way over dressed. On the other hand, being dressed nicely might be a good way to stand out in a crowd (if there is one).
So what do you guys think?

I don't know, I'd probably keep the tie. Wear a colored shirt and a matching pattern tie, maybe to make it more casual. In the job, will you be interacting with residential or commercial people, or just flinging them onto steps? I would say if you're talking to people, wear a tie.
I saw clips of people applying at McDonald's here on their big job day, and some people were in hoodies and worse.

I'm fairly certain it's just a toss-on-the-stoop type of deal. I think I'll take the tie along and make a choice based on what I see on the other people there.
Extra question: Short sleeves or long sleeves?
Long sleeves. I'm a staunch defender of short sleeves being appropriate as work place attire in certain parts of the country, but never an interview.
Also, a tie can also be pocketed if you show up and feel way over dressed.
Yeah, I'd go with khakis, long-sleeve dress shirt, and tie. The tie can always be removed at the last minute if you really feel over dressed, but in my experience, dress shirt and tie is almost never overdressed. In fact, it tends to be the absolute minimum I'd recommend for an interview.
You're not so dressed up you'll be considered snooty or highfalutin, but you're still dressed well enough the potential employer will know you're serious about the job.

Bonus tie info with walk-throughs (tie-throughs?) and videos: Tie-a-Tie
Also a padfolio is good, they're like $10 at OfficeMax or FedExKinko's.

Long sleeves. Never, ever wear a tie with a short sleeve shirt. Ever.
Yeah I figured that was a bad combo just because Dwight seemed to be the only one wearing it, but I wasn't 100%. Alrighty, think I'm just gonna go with my original plan and keep or lose the tie based on the look of the other applicants, thanks for the advice all.

But Sipowicz does it!
Pretty sure the employees will be wearing T-shirts and shorts
A shirt and tie is never way over-dressed for anything. Well, a water slide might be less fun in Dockers.
