Hey guys. I have a decent amount free time at work (I work in IT), but I'm stuck behind a computer all day when I'm not visiting users and troublshooting. I can only scan Digg, PA, and IGN so many times in one day, and I'm starting to get a bit bored. This leads me to my question...
Do those survey and test websites really pay off? Has anyone ever made a decent amount of money doing this? If you have tried it I have a couple questions for you: If I spent 1 hour a day doing these online, how much could I make in a month doing it? Is it worth it? I obviously can't believe junk email and pop-ups, so I figure I'd ask for real-life experiences.
I'm basically asking if it is worth a little extra time at work that would be spent on the internet anyway....I just might as well make a little money in the mean time. Thanks in advance everyone!
They don't make you a lot of money, but you can make some. I usually end up with about £20 a month, which is worth it for otherwise wasted time. Some of them are dodgy, but some are genuine. Be careful wih your bank details, as always. Most of the sites I use issue their rewards as codes for Amazon, etc. those that send cash mail out cheques. I don't think I'd actually hand over mine.
Make sure you set up a disposable email address to sign up with, because the dodgy sites will quickly flood it with spam. You can get an idea if they're legit by googling.
The Amazon Mechanical Turk is still up and running. It's dull and mindless work but I would imagine that they'd actually cough up what they say they will.
Yeah, a lot of them actually do send out checks. I dont have any recommendations off hand, but a guy i work with does them all the time, and he says he gets checks all the time. But, dont give out anything more than your name and address. If they want to pay you by any way other than check, its probably a scam.
Here's an easy way to get an extra $10 every few months... if you're 21.
Sign up at camelsmokes.com and every now and then you'll get an email about a survey camel wants you to take... you just answer a few questions about how cool or lame some promotional items or material would be and they send you a check for $10.
My girlfriend showed me a pretty legit survey program that pays $50 for every 1000 "points". Most surveys give out 5-50 points, with the 5 being for just answering the first few demographic questions (A/S/L) and 50 if you're eligble to complete the survey. To this day I have not been eligible for any surveys, but I still get my 5 points every time.
I get about 1-2 surveys a day, so do the math, you can get a few extra bucks after a bit.
